Dean Hemphill Clarks Chapel Baptist Church 176 Mathis Lake Rd. Thomaston, GA 30286 We read in Acts 15:40, “and Paul chose Silas, and de parted, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.” Last week on Friday afternoon, I ministered the funeral of Jackie Wood. He was the last of six men that served on a pulpit committee, and I met them in December 1981. Over the last 42 years, I have thanked those men, time and time again, for their recommendation to call me as the pastor of Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church. That pulpit committee said that all six would have to agree, and I thank God that He led them to agree on me. I will forever be grateful to Jackie Wood, H.O. Bell, Ferrell Willis, Murle Wilson, Bobby Stevens, and Bobby McKissick. Clark’s Chapel will never really know, or will this community, how much I ap preciate these years that God has allowed me to be here. If it all ended today, I can say that it’s been a good trip. I want to encourage you to remember those that have impacted your life and make sure, from time to time, you tell them so. Life is short, so don’t waste a day without thanking God, and thanking others.
