4B I DAWSON COUNTY NEWS I dawsonnews.com Wednesday, June 6,2018 Dawson County Schools Nutrition offering summer lunches until July 20 By Jessica Brown jbrown@dawsonnews.com The Dawson County Schools Nutrition program is offering free summer lunches until July 20. Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. kids under 18 can get a free meal and adults over 18 can purchase a balanced meal for $3.75. The Seamless Summer Feeding Program started six years ago during the economic recession and is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The pro gram seeks to be certain that low-income children receive nutritious meals during the summer months when school is not in session. On average, 600 meals will be served every day, with 18,000 meals expected to be served by the end of summer. Meals will be served at Dawson County Junior High School and Rock Creek Park and must be eaten on site. Other locations include: Dawson County High School: June 4 - July 20, Monday-Thursday Riverview Elementary School: June 4-15 Dawson County Middle School: June 4-8 Robinson, Black’s Mill, Kilough: June 4-6 Dawson County Library: June 6 - July 18, Wednesdays only Lumpkin Campground: June 18-22 No meals will be served during the week of July 4.
