2A I DAWSON COUNTY NEWS I dawsonnews.com Wednesday, August 29,2018 OBITUARIES Dolores C. "Dee" Murphy Dolores C. “Dee” Murphy, 87, of Dacula, formerly of Dawsonville, died Aug. 23,2018. Born Oct. 19, 1930 in Hubbard, Ohio to the late Domenick and Rose Patrizi, she lived in Dawson County for 13 years having moved from Holly, Mich. Dee was very devoted to her fami ly and church. She was always there to lend a helping hand and pos sessed a great love for animals. She was a mem ber of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. Her husband of 54 years, Joseph A. “Joe” Murphy, and a brother, James Patrizi, preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Catherine and Dennis Walker of Dacula, Janice and Bill Roman of Forest Lake, Minn., Pamela and Michael Martello of San Clemente, Calif., Jerry and Lisa Murphy of West Chester, Pa., Mark Murphy of Oxford, Mich., Ann and Jim LaBarge of Inverness, Ill.; sister, Louise Spera of Wilmington, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; vari ous other relatives also surive. A memorial mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 27 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. Fr. Brian Higgins officicated. In lieu of flowers dona tions may be made to the Building Fund, Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 991 Kilough Church Road, Dawsonville, Ga 30534. Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrange ments. Dawson County News August 29, 2018 Jeffrey Roland Ogletree Jeffrey Roland Ogletree, 36, of Lawrenceville, died Aug. 21,2018. Bom Feb. 13, 1982 and raised in Dawsonville, he had been a resident of Gwinnett County for over 10 years. Jeffrey worked as a heavy equipment operator for Martin Marietta and enjoyed fast cars, motorcycles and ATVs. He was a loving father, brother and son. His father, Joseph Roland Ogletree, and grandfather, Don Ogletree, preceded him in death. Survivors include his children, Cameron Roland Ogletree, Kayla Noel Ogletree and Kirkland Ogletree; moth er, Beverly Ogletree of Dawsonville; step-father, Steve Cooper of Fayetteville; brother and sister-in-law, Chad and Tiffany Ogletree of Ellijay; sister and brother- in-law, Andrea and Kevin Bailey of Dawsonville; numerous nieces, neph ews; various other rela tives also survive. Memorial services were held at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. The fami ly received friends from 5 p.m. until the hour of ser vice. Dawson County News August 29, 2018 Max Swafford Max Swafford, 83, of Decatur, died Aug. 23, 2018. Born Aug. 9, 1935 in Dawson County to the late Carl and Mae Swafford, he had lived in Decatur for the past five years. Max retired as a commercial truck driver. He loved and enjoyed NASCAR, country music, playing his guitar and the Atlanta Braves. His wife, Gail Wilson Swafford, and sisters, Cleo Bruce and Lois Chumley, preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in- law, Angie and Jon Blackwelder of Decatur, Carmen Park of Idyllwild, Calif., Connie and Tony Arp of Dawsonville, Renee Darby of Dawsonville; sister Eunice Chumbley of Dawsonville; brother and sister-in-law, Glenson and Arlene Swafford of Kennesaw; his ex-wife, Maxine Cochran; six grandchildren, Kenny Arp, Jason Arp, Chris Arp, Justin Darby, Levi Darby, Sarah and Matt Hughes; two great-grand children, Blake Arp, Chase Arp; various other relatives also survive. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 31, 2018 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mike Owens will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Aug. 31. The Dawso n Cou nty Democrats began donating to READ in 2008 after longtime member Tom Foley sparked the idea. Now, 10 years later, the party has decided to rename the scholarship "The Tom Foley Memorial Scholarship" in his honor.
