amended, particularly by
an Act approved April 4,
1996 (Ga. L. 1996, p. 4135);
and for other purposes.

Appointment to
the Dawson County
Board of Equalization
Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 15-
12-81, notice is hereby
provided that the March
2019 Dawson County
Grand Jury shall appoint
four (4) members to the
Dawson County Board of
Equalization. The terms
of the members to be
appointed shall be as
follows:
January 1, 2020 through
December 31,2022.
Board of Equalization
members shall be
appointed and shall serve
pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 48-
5-311.
Any resident of Dawson
County with the
following qualifications
may be nominated for
appointment to the
Board of Equalization by
submitting a nomination
form.
Qualifications
Board of Equalization
members must be qualified
and competent to serve on
the Grand Jury, must own
real property in Dawson
County, and must be high
school graduates.
Members of the
governing authority of a
county, municipality, or
consolidated government,
a county or independent
board of education, or
the county board of tax
assessors shall not be
eligible to serve as a
member of the Board of
Equalization.
No employee of the county
board of tax assessors or
the county tax appraiser
shall be eligible to serve as
a member of the Board of
Equalization.
Training and Education
Each member of the
Board of Equalization shall
satisfactorily complete
not less than 20 hours of
instruction in appraisal
and equalization processes
and procedures prepared
and required by the
Georgia Department of
Revenue Commissioner
within the first year after
appointment. The failure
of any member to fulfill the
requirements established
by law shall render that
member ineligible to
serve on the Board of
Equalization.
No person shall be eligible
to hear a tax appeal as a
member of the Board of
Equalization unless, priorto
hearing such appeal, that
individual has satisfactorily
completed 20 hours of
instruction required by law.
Any person appointed to
the Board of Equalization
shall be required to
annually complete
continuing education
courses prepared by the
Georgia Department of
Revenue Commissioner.
The failure to complete
the continuing education
requirements established
by law shall render such
individual ineligible to
serve on the Board of
Equalization.

available in the office of the
Dawson County Superior
Court Clerk. Each person
seeking to be appointed
shall file with the Clerk of
Superior Court a uniform
application form that shall
be a public record.
