Food Lion Feeds, the philan
thropic arm of Food Lion,
reached its goal of donating 500
million meals by the end of
2020 nearly a year and a half
early. On the way to the goal,
the local Dawsonville location
lent a helping hand to two local
charities — The St. Vincent De
Paul Society from Christ the
Redeemer Catholic Church and
Community Helping Place.
“Each of these 500 million
meals has helped one of our
neighbors who did not know
where their next meal would
come from - children, seniors,
service members, veterans and
families across our footprint
who were faced with the impos
sible choices caused by hunger,”
said Food Lion President Meg
Ham. “We won’t accept that
many of our neighbors are food-
insecure and struggle to nourish
their families, so we felt com
pelled to take action by uniting
with our customers and partners
to eliminate the choices families
are forced to make when they
are hungry.”
“We are most appreciative of
Food Lion Feeds’ generosity
and support of our mission to
assist the needy in Dawson
County,” said Sue Seldomridge,
president of St. Vincent De
Paul Society.
The 500 million meals was
only part of the charitable work
done by Food Lion Feeds. They
also donated more than $200
million dollars to the American
Red Cross to help with natural
disaster recovery and partnered
with more than 150 local feed
ing agencies to renovate their
facilities as part of the Great
Pantry Makeover.

'Our commitment to donate 500 million meals was significant, but it was about so much more
than a number. Nourishing our neighbors in the towns and cities we serve is what we do. So
we're proud of achieving our goal and grateful to our customers and community partners who
have helped us achieve it. We also recognize that there is more vital work to be done..'
