In conjunction with the beginning of
school, St. Peter Lutheran Church invites
the community to join it for a variety of
Bible studies, which will begin in
September. "Law and Gospel" will meet
Wednesday evenings beginning Sept. 11
at 7 p.m.Taught by the Rev. Dr. Gerhard
Michael, Jr., pastor at St. Peter's, the
course will help students learn to listen to
the Scriptures as they confront us with
God's expectations (the Law) and as they
comfort, encourage, and empower us
with the Good News of God's grace. Class
sessions of this nine unit course run from
7-8:30 p.m. According to Pastor Michael,
both courses incorporate presentation,
discussion, and interaction to foster par
ticipants' growth in their relationship with
God and one another through study of
His Word. A third course, based on Paul's
letters to Timothy andTitus will be offered
Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. Sept. 8
through Nov.24. Led by Pastor Michael, its
focus will be "to learn how the ancient
writings provide contemporary wisdom
for the church to carry out its ministry
today." In addition to the above courses
for adults, the church's Sunday school
offers age appropriate instruction for chil
dren Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m.The
congregation's Sunday program high
lights worship at 10:30 a.m. when
Scripture, message, hymns and liturgy
combine to communicate God's Word to
worshipers in today's context.The church
welcomes all to join them for its study

From Mother's Hands to God's Hands-
Losing a child: Anyone who has had a
child die in their family is invited to an
informal meeting. We will meet at 7 p.m.
Thursday nights in the dining room of
Church of God of Prophecy at 680 Hwy. 53
E. in Dawsonville. When a child dies the
family suffers intense pain and feels hope
less and isolated. Only the people who
know the pain understand, so we together
can help each other. For more information
