The Georgia Mountain
Food Bank is hosting its
signature fundraiser at the
end of the month in order to
continue fighting hunger in
the north Georgia region.
The 11th annual Empty
Bowl luncheon will be
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept.
24. This year, the luncheon
will be held in the Ramsey
Conference Center at the
new Lanier Technical
College facility in
Gainesville.
Georgia Mountain Food
Bank (GMFB) currently
serves five counties in north
Georgia - Dawson, Hall,
Lumpkin, Forsyth and
Union - and partners with
more than 70 non-profit
feeding partners to help
feed the community.
The annual Empty Bowl
luncheon generates pro
ceeds that help connect
food to Georgia Mountain
Food Bank’s feeing part
ners and the families they
serve throughout the year.
The 2018 Empty Bowl
luncheon raised enough
funds for the organization
to prove more than 685,000
meals to the north Georgia
community.
As part of the annual lun
cheon’s tradition, each
guest will walk away with a
hand-painted bowl as a sou
venir and a reminder of
GMFB’s mission to elimi
nate empty bowls and
empty stomachs in the
community. The unique
bowls are made and donat
ed by the community.
This year’s luncheon also
features a live auction that
includes hand-painted
bowls by celebrities like
Blackberry Smoke, Drivin’
N’ Cryin’ and U.S. Rep.
Doug Collins.
Performance Food
Service will provide soups,
salads and desserts.
The live auction as well
as a volunteer recognition
program will begin at 11:45
a.m.
Individual tickets are a
$30 donation which
includes lunch and a souve
nir bowl. The $30 donation
will provide more than 150
meals to those in need in
north Georgia.
