OBITUARIES
Betty Jo Arrendale
Betty Jo Arrendale, 86, of
Dawsonville passed away Wednesday,
Jan. 8, 2020 at Seasons Hospice follow
ing a period of declining health.
Born Nov. 14, 1933, Betty Jo was a
lifelong resident of Dawson County. A
graduate of Dawson County High
School, she worked as a secretary at
Sweet Orr for many years and was also
a skilled seamstress who enjoyed mak
ing baby blankets for her family and
friends. A dedicated member of Juno
Baptist Church, Betty Jo was a loving
wife, mother, sister and grandmother
who was extremely dedicated to her
grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by
her husband, Joe J. Arrendale; parents,
Joseph Monroe and Dosha Mae Burt;
sister, Shirley Jean Cofield; brothers,
Sam Burt and Merlin Burt.
Surviving are her daughter and son in
law, Jennifer and Brian Bartlett,
Cumming; son and daughter-in-law,
Rick and Deborah Arrendale, Graslake,
IL; grandchildren, Allison and Matt
Reis, Joseph Arrendale, Jessica and
Tommy Brock, Taylor Watson, Holly
Crawshaw, Cole Watson; great-grand
children, Noah, Daniel, Jonah, and
Harley Grace Brock, Lilah, Esmae and
Sailor Crawshaw; sisters, Maude
Harben, Dawsonville, Vaudell
Stephens, Dawsonville, Dora
Arrendale, Dahlonega; brother and sis
ter in law, J.M. and Marie Burt,

A celebration of life was held
Sunday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. at Bearden
Luneral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis
Bottoms officiating. Interment fol
lowed in Juno Baptist Church
Cemetery.

The Padgett Family History, "Our
Journey to Edmond of England," a
book by Padgett descendants, is now
available at the Dawson County
Library.The history begins with the
north Georgia families and traces the
lines to Edmond in Virginia and on to
Edmond born 1638 in England.The

The Dawson County Library is host
ing Adult Craft Night on the last
Tuesday of each month. Registration is

Sandra D. Brown
Mrs. Sandra D. Brown, 68, of
Dawsonville, passed away Sunday,
Dec. 29, 2019.
Mrs. Brown was born in Lorsyth
County on May 20, 1951 to the late
Alvious and Estelle Watkins Day. In
addition to her parents she was preced
ed in death by her brothers Donald Day,
Andy Day and Lee Day. Mrs. Brown
was a member of Whole Word Worship
Center. She was lovingly known as
“Granny.”
Survivors include her husband
Johnny Brown, Dawsonville; son Jasper
Brown, Dawsonville; grandson Elijah
Jasper Brown, Dawsonville; sisters
Imogene Davis-Boulvare, Cleveland,
and Evelyn Oakley, Oregon; sisters and
brothers-in-law Thelma and Cecil
Land, Sr., Cumming, and Patricia and
Ralph Parker, Gainesville; several niec
es, nephews and other relatives.
Memorial services will be held at 2
p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the cha
pel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral
Home with Sister Wanda Watson offici
ating. The family will receive friends
from noon until the service hour
Wednesday at the funeral home.
