Financial advisor for Modern Woodmen of America By Erica Jones ejones@dawsonnews.com On Oct. 19, the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce held an official ribbon cutting for Alexandria Williams with Modern Woodmen of America. Williams works as a financial advisor for Modern Woodmen of America, a fraternal financial services organi zation with representa tives across the country. According to Williams, each representative for the organization is his or her own entity, so she is joining the chamber as her own business. Williams has been helping with and attend ing chamber events for a little over a year. Because of this, Dawson County Chamber of Commerce President Mandy Power said hold ing a ribbon cutting for Williams is long overdue. “It feels kinda weird doing a ribbon cutting; we should have done this a long time ago,” Power said. "This is super excit ing to be here to cele brate Alex; she has been such a huge part of our chamber since the day she walked through our doors.” Modern Woodmen just recently opened the office Williams works out of, so she said she was excited to finally do the ribbon cutting. “We just opened that office so it’s exciting to finally get to do a ribbon Alexandria Williams cutting,” Williams said. Williams, who also recently joined the cham ber’s board of directors, is a Dawson County native who returned to her hometown after grad- uating from the University of Georgia to start her career. According to Power, this is exactly what the cham ber hopes to nurture through its work in the county. “Really and truly, [Williams] is the model of what we want here in Dawson County,” Power said. “She’s from here, she’s gone and got her education, and now she’s come back and built a phenomenal business here in Dawson County.” Williams addressed the chamber members who were in attendance at the ribbon cutting, thanking them for their support of her as she has built up her business. “Thank you so much for welcoming me into the business community — I grew up here, and it’s nice that I built something for myself,” Williams said to the assembled chamber members. “Thank you so much for all you have done for me and contin ue to do, and if I can help you with any of your financial planning needs I’m here for you.” For more information on Williams and Modern Woodmen of America, go to https://reps.mod- ernwoodmen.org/awil- liams/.
