“I felt like our NAPA Chevy
was really good, and I thought our
team did a really good job prepar
ing this week,” Elliott said after
the race. “I was really proud of
our group.”
Attempting to win back-to-back
Cup Series titles this season,
Elliott finished with two wins, 15
top-five finishes, 21 top-10 finish
es and 952 laps led.
Elliott and the NAPA AUTO
PARTS team lined up second on
Sunday for the 2021 NASCAR
Cup Series season finale at
Phoenix Raceway. He quickly
took the top spot from his
Hendrick Motorsports teammate
Kyle Larson on lap two.
He remained in that spot until
the first yellow flag dropped on

One jury member contract
ed COVID-19 and two oth
ers were dismissed from the
Austin Stryker v. State of
Georgia trial which started
on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
Stryker is on trial for the
2019 killing of Dahlonega
woman Hannah Bender.
Stryker has eight different
charges pending including b
malice murder, felony mur-
derand violations of
Georgia’s Street Gang
Terrorism and Prevention
Act.
Northeastern Circuit
Superior Court Judge
Kathlene Gosselin
announced to the courtroom
on Thursday, Nov. 4 that the
juror who contracted
COVID-19 and the other two
jury members were unvacci
nated. There is no update yet
on what will happen if the
trial is deemed a mistrial.
When the trial began
Tuesday afternoon, 20-year-
old Isaac Huff took the
stand. As part of a plea deal,
Huff will spend 12 years in
prison and 18 years on pro
bation for his role in the
alleged murder.

In the Nov. 2, Dawsonville city election,
incumbent Mark French
won the city council Post 4
seat over competitor Jamie
McCracken.
French won the seat by
25 votes, beating
McCracken 185 to 160.

election, incumbent Will
Illg won the city council
Post 2 seat over competitor
Mike Sosebee.
Illg won the seat by 28
votes, beating Sosebee 186
to 158.
