Dawsonville McDonald’s
General Manager Norma Gomez
has recently been selected as the
winner of the Ray Kroc Award, a
prestigious award that recognizes
the top performing restaurant
managers around the world.
According to a press release,
the award is given to the top 345
McDonald’s restaurant manag
ers, representing the top one per
cent of managers from 60 mar
kets around the world, and
includes a cash prize and a tro
phy.
“I feel so happy that I won,”
Gomez said in the release. “I feel
like my hard work has paid off.
It’s a great achievement that
makes me feel accomplished. I
love working at McDonald’s and
I love my team. McDonald’s is a
great company that has helped
me achieve my goals. But I am
most proud of my team and my
people. I have always pushed
myself to be the best, and my
team believes in our team and
our restaurant.”
According to the release,
Gomez first started as a
McDonald’s crew member 18
years ago and has been a store
manager for six years. She cur
rently manages the Dawsonville
McDonald’s, located at 50
Georgia 400, which is owned
and operated by Keith, Drew and
Luke Muller. Gomez has spent
her whole McDonald’s career
with the Muller family, which
owns and operates 26 restaurants
throughout the metro Atlanta
area.
“Norma actually trained me at
McDonald’s,” Luke Muller said
in the release. “I was a high
school student, and she was
kitchen manager. She showed me
how to cook hamburgers. She
has always been a success at
McDonald’s. Her progression
with our company has been ter
rific to see. We always have the
highest thoughts about her and
her progression.”
Restaurant managers are nomi
nated for the Ray Kroc Awards
by McDonald’s independent
franchisees and regional manage
ment, in order to recognize their
hard work, dedication and com
mitment to McDonald’s and its
customers.
“She is a terrific person and
manager,” Linda DeLong, part of
the Muller’s restaurant group
management team, said in the
release. “Our restaurant here is
like a family. Norma is a huge
reason for that. This is a well-
deserved honor. She always
strives to be the best.”
According to the release, one
of Gomez’s passions is finding
outgoing and hardworking crew
members for the restaurant.
“I have always pushed myself
at McDonald’s and I want to help
others grow,” Gomez said in the
release. “I started at McDonald’s
as a 17-year-old so I can relate to
them. I am so proud of what they
do on a daily basis.”
While at work, her goal is to
always put the customer first.
“Our great customers keep me
going,” Gomez said in the
release. “We have a lot of repeat
customers. The team and I love
the challenge of always being
busy but keeping them first no
matter what.”
Outside of work, Gomez and
the Dawsonville McDonald’s are
involved in community support,
including local schools.
“I want to thank the Muller
family and Linda DeLong for
believing in me,” Gomez said in
the release. “I always strive to do
my best and help my team suc
ceed. I want to help them get bet
ter each and every day. I am
always proud to help the com
munity, especially my Hispanic
community, and provide an
opportunity for young people to
work at McDonald’s and grow
and learn.”
NW Ga. man charged with armed robbery in Dawson
By Julia Fechter

Multiple years after allegedly com
mitting an armed robbery, an out-of-
town man was arrested
for the felony offense, according to
an indictment filed in Dawson County
Superior Court.
Marcus Paul Milford, 52, of Ranger,
Ga., was arrested by the Dawson
County Sheriff’s Office on June 7,
2022, and subsequently charged with
one count of armed robbery.
Milford is being detained at the
Dawson County Detention Center
without bond.
The grand jury’s indictment stated
that Milford allegedly took Dilaudid,
an opioid medication, from CVS
Pharmacy by use of a handgun on Feb.
17, 2015. However, he was unknown
to the state until March 12,2021.
Georgia law states that the statute of
limitations for armed robbery is gener
ally seven years and specifies that the
time span in which prosecution must
be commenced does not include any
period in which, among other exclu
sions, either the person committing the
crime is unknown or the crime is
unknown.
Northeastern Judicial Circuit
District Attorney Lee Darragh con
firmed the law’s tolling provision and
referred DCN to the indictment as to
specifics for this case.
DCN will provide case updates
when more information becomes
available.
