the Arts hosting
quilt exhibit
From now through Oct. 19, the
Bowen Center for the Arts is host

Guild.
According to a press release by
the Bowen, this year’s show fea

lenge competition “Spring Fever”.
The event is free to attend and
features over 75 quilts, with sever
al for sale.
“There are several hand-quilted
works along with the traditional
and not so traditional, and all with
incredibly complex color patterns
and visuals,” the release said.
“Each year, visitors walk in the
front door and stop to gather it all
in. Quilt Guild docents guide
them through the maze of quilts
and treat them to stories and tech
niques.”
Each year, the Quilt Guild also
provides a raffle quilt to donate to
the Bowen to give back. This
year’s raffle quilt is tided “Shoo
Fly Garden” and is a queen size
quilt featuring K. Fassett fabric
and a unique hand-sewn border
applique. According to the
release, over 45 guild members
helped to create the raffle quilt.
The drawing will be held on
Dec. 13. Tickets are on sale for $1
per ticket or $5 for six tickets and
are available for purchase at the
Bowen or online at bowenarts.
org. All proceeds from the quilt
raffle will go to the nonprofit
Bowen Center for the Arts.
“Each year, the Bowen wel
comes back the Heart in Hand
Quilt Guild and this overwhelm
ing display of hard work and tal
ent,” the release said. “We hope
the Quilt Guild understands what
a tremendous impact their art
means.”
The Bowen Center for the Arts
is located at 334 Highway 9
North in Dawsonville. For more

Program of Georgia (FCPGA)
will host its annual “Catoberfest" ’
fall fundraiser to support its initia

According to a press release by
the FCPGA, this year’s event will
take place on Oct. 8 at Fowler
Park in Cumming and run from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will feature over 30
artists and vendor booths, food
trucks, a DJ, family friendly fun
and a silent auction with 50+ bas

cards and more. Admission to the
event is free.
Feading up to the event on Oct.
8, FCPGA will host an online
auction beginning Sept. 29 and
closing Oct. 5. Auction items
available online include a photo
graphic African safari for two and
a luxury sty at Casa de Sofia in
Manzanillo, Mexico. For a link to
online auction items and registra

Catoberfest is the only fundrais

cats and kittens and partners with
PetSmart Charities to hold adop

Alpharetta PetSmart locations.
“Each year, FCPGA receives
hundreds of requests for help with
unwanted cats and kittens from
local animal control offices and
individuals in the counties they
serve,” the release said. “Shelters
are currently experiencing more
intakes than adoptions and are not
equipped to care for sick, injured
or pregnant cats. All proceeds
from Catoberfest will go to
FCPGA, enabling them to rescue
more cats and kittens from over
crowded shelters and care for
them until they are adopted.”

Meet Paisley! Hello there big world! My name is Paisley and I am a
gorgeous red and white Spaniel Mix. All my legs are white and red
speckled and I have mesmerizing chocolate brown eyes that will melt
your heart! I weigh about 30 pounds and am estimated to be 1.5 years
old. I would need an adopter that could give me that patience, time, and
love that I need to transform into the brave, independent girl that I know
I can be! I am quite frightened of kids, men, and loud noises
(I need a home with women only). I would benefit from a dog friend to
play with and teach me how to be a dog. I am house-trained too.
I will chase cats. I am currently available for adoption. If you are
interested in meeting with me, please fill out an application or call the
Humane Society of Forsyth County at 770-887-6480, Tuesday through
Saturday, for more information. All my love and kisses, Paisley
