Dawson Chamber of Commerce cuts ribbon
for Georgia Highlands Medical Services
Erica Jones Dawson County News
Medical staff, community members and Dawson
County Chamber of Commerce members cut the

On Tuesday Oct. 11,
the Dawson County
Chamber of Commerce
held an official ribbon
cutting for Georgia
Highlands Medical
Services, located at 5959
Highway 53 Suite 100.
According to Georgia
Highlands CEO Todd
Shifflet, the Dawsonville
location of the medical
practice opened in its cur
rent building in 2017, and
most recently the practice
has expanded its pediatric
clinic in Dawson.
Georgia Highlands is a
non-profit medical service
that has served the North
Georgia community since
1979, and its mission is to
bring the highest quality
medical care possible to
everyone in the service
area, regardless of
income, insurance status
or language spoken.
“Our core mission is to
provide care to the unin
sured; we also see every
body insured as well,”
Shifflet said. “We are very
happy and grateful for the
support Dawson County
has given us; we know we
couldn’t succeed if we
didn’t have your support
and if I didn’t have staff
like these.”
Before cutting the rib
bon, Mandy Power,
President and CEO of the
Dawson County Chamber
of Commerce, commend
ed Shifflet and his staff at
the practice for their mis
sion and for their hard
work to serve the commu
nity.
“We are so excited to
have medical services
from Georgia Highlands
here in our community; it
makes me very excited for
the additional resources
you have for Dawson
County residents,” Power
said. “Dawsonville would
be nothing without our
medical industry.”
