From now through Dec. 15, the local art center is hosting “Deck the Walls”, a festival of holiday quilts and more. During the exhibit, com munity members are encouraged to come out and enjoy a large display of holiday quilts, original wreaths for sale and amus ing class ornaments from the Spruill Glass Department. Attendees can come browse the large col lections and find unique art gifts for anyone. On Tuesday Dec. 6 from 6:30 to 8 p.m., the Georgia Music ale Group (GMG) will put on a concert featur ing classical and holiday songs performed at the Bowen. The musical selections will be performed by mem bers of the GMG with soprano, tenor, cello and piano selections. The GMG is a nonprofit group that provides music beginner to professional members an outlet for performing, socializing and learning. Tickets are $10 per per son and children 12 and under are free. On Monday Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Bowen will host its “Mistletoe Magic” holiday card party and luncheon. The event will feature quiche, salad, desserts, and an opportunity to play games galore with fellow luncheon attendees. Community members attending the luncheon are encouraged to bring their favorite card, dice or board games. In addition to the games and food, the event will include door prizes with items from several local businesses. Tickets to the holiday card party and luncheon cost $25 per person and can be purchased online or with a credit card or check at the Bowen. Dawson County to hold annual Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 3 Erica Jones DawsonCounty News By Erica Jones ejones@dawsonnews.com Dawson County’s annual “Breakfast with Santa” event is scheduled to take place on Saturday Dec. 3 from 8 to 11 a.m. at Rock Creek Park. The event includes a chance to visit with Santa, eat breakfast, shop from local vendors, participate in fun activi- ties and more. Admission is free and includes several free activities for children, including goodie bags and toys, ornament mak ing and crafts. There will also be sev eral items available for purchase, including pho tos for $5, breakfast for $2 and a variety of items from local vendors. Proceeds from the event go to support local non profit K.A.R.E. for Kids. No pets are allowed at the event, and cash only will be accepted.
