Erica Jones Dawson County News By Erica Jones ejones@dawsonnews.com On Wednesday Dec. 7, the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Patterson Moore and Butler Attorneys and Mediation. Patterson Moore and Butler LLC is a law firm serving the North Georgia area and run by partners Jennifer Patterson, Tracy Ann Moore, Logan Butler and Lauren Ducharme. The firm offers a wide range of legal services, including divorce, family law, criminal defense, mediation, estate planning and probate. The firm’s new Dawson County office is located at 500 Highway 53 in Dawsonville. According to Jennifer Patterson, the original plan was to buy the building, which used to be a bank and has sat vacant for several years, to rent out, but she and the partners decided to remod el it into their new office space. “We had this opportuni ty to buy this building and anticipated renting it; that was our goal, we were buying an investment,” Patterson said. “We had it for a little while and said ‘you know what we kind of love it’, so we decided we were going to make this our other home. We’ve obviously done some reno vations; this was a bank and we’ve converted it to be actual office space and we’re super excited with how it turned out.” Before cutting the rib bon for the firm’s new office, Dawson County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mandy Power congratulated Patterson and her partners on all the work they have accomplished to get to the point of finally opening their new Dawson office. “This building sat vacant for a long while and we thought what a great oppor tunity; we’re super excited to see what you have done with this building,” Power said. “We’re super excited to have you here in Dawsonville and to cele brate y’all today.” “We’re just really excited to be here,” Patterson said. “We appreciate your sup port and look forward to many years.” Patterson Moore and Butler Attorneys and Mediation is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about the firm and the services it offers, go to www.attomeysatlaw- ga.com. Inspire Sleep Apnea Innovation Dawson Chamber of Commerce holds ribbon-cutting for MCC Label By Erica Jones ejones@dawsonnews.com Dawsonville Mayor Mike Eason has been chosen as the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission’s (GMRC) 2022 Elected Official of the Year, an honor pre sented each year to an individual who has dem onstrated leadership, sup port and vision for the GMRC. Eason was presented with the award during the GMRC’s annual meeting, which was held at the Dillard House on Friday Dec. 2. According to a press release by the GMRC, Eason currently serves on the GMRC council and has been a huge supporter of the organization. “Mayor Eason sets an outstanding example of the strong determination, bold ideas, and the incredible amount of grit it takes to get this done in government,” GMRC Executive Director Heather Feldman said in the release. “His pride for his community is unwav ering and his humble per sonality is admired by all.” On receiving the award, Eason thanked the GMRC for their hard work in Dawson and its surrounding communi ties. “The GMRC is a fan tastic organization, which provides amazing support to cities and counties throughout its region,” Eason said in the release. “They help with grant writing and planning and provided the design draft for our Farmers Market here in Dawsonville. Cooksey-Buice By Erica Jones ejones@dawsonnews.com On Friday Dec. 9, the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce held a rib bon cutting for the Dawson County plant of global printing giant MCC Label, located at 103 Lumpkin Campground Road North. Multi-Color Corporation (MCC) is one of the larg est label companies in the world and operates 109 labs producing operations in over 26 countries. According to Dawson County plant General Manager Michael Krivanek, Fort Dearborn bought the facility from Sleeveco, Inc in 2017. Then in 2021, MCC com bined with Fort Dearborn. “Last year, MCC for mally acquired Fort Dearborn to become the largest label manufacturer in the world,” Krivanek said. “We produce about $3.3 billion in sales glob ally, we’re in five conti nents around the world.” The Dawson County facility, he said, does approximately $55 million worth of sales annually, employs about 125 employees and is about 100,000 square feet in size. “We operate solvent presses, wide web, $6 to $7 million presses,” Krivanek said. “We do two types of products, both stretch and shrink labels. All the global brands that you know of we support, so that’s the Coca-Colas of the world, the Cloroxes of the world, so on and so forth.” The facility operates 24 hours a day, five days a week, and Krivanek said that moving forward they hope to be able to expand their abilities even more. “We have some addi tional capacity and we’re working to bring in some additional capacity to help grow the business going forward,” Krivanek said. “We’re super excited to be here.” Before cutting the rib bon, Dawson County Chamber of Commerce Erica Jones Dawson County News MCC Label representatives and Dawson County Chamber of Commerce members cut a ribbon for the printing company on Friday Dec. 9. The prospective bride groom, Robert (Robby) Buice, is the son of Danny and Trisha Buice of Dawsonville. Miss Cooksey is a 2019 graduate of Dawson County High School and also attended Toccoa Falls College and Lanier and Lanier Technical College. She is employed at Avita Community Partners in Gainesville. Mr. Buice is a 2015 Graduate of Lambert High School in Cumming. He is the owner of Nature’s Remedy in Marble Hill.
