STEM-packed summer camp
to provide hands-on learning

This June, STEM-packed Camp
Invention will once again return to
Dawson County to provide a week of
fun, hands-on learning for local chil
dren.
The camp will be open to children
kindergarten through sixth grade and
run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. from June
19 through 23. The camp will take place
at Dawson County Middle School, and
the camp fee is $260 per child.
According to information provided by
Camp Invention, this year’s theme is
“Wonder” and will include learning
experiences covering a variety of STEM
(science, technology, engineering and
mathematics) topics. Some of the activi
ties offered at this year’s camp will
include:
Catching Air: “Taking a confidence
building ride through physics, engineer
ing and art, children design and build
their own skate park.”
Invention Celebration: “Campers take
on the role of event planners as they
throw a party celebrating creativity and
innovation.”
MimicBot: “Children show their
unique style when they transform a
robot that mimics sounds into one-of-a-
kind animatronic stuffie.”
Pop-Up Venture: “Big ideas come to
life as campers design their own mini
pop-up business.”
Lunch during camp will be provided
by Dawson County School Nutrition.

The Dawson County Environmental
Health Department conducted rou
tine health inspections on the fol
lowing establishments from May
18-June 2, 2023.
Restaurants are given a letter grade
that coincides with a percentile: "A"
(90-100), "B" (80-89), "C" (70-79),
"U" (69 and below).
