Local landowner Gold Creek Development LLC recently cleared trees and installed silt fencing near the site of former tennis courts in the local neighborhood. Mike Turner, a representa tive for the family-led compa ny, recently met with DCN to discuss the planned project. Turner called the term “townhomes” a bit of a mis nomer, opting to refer to the units as paired-patio homes. Essentially, two homes will share a wall but have separate driveways, garages, front doors and patios. From a dis tance, each pair of homes will look like one big home, Turner said. Rendering submitted to DCN ‘It is entirely student-produced’ Erica Jones Dawson County News DCHS students practice for their upcoming production of “Peter Pan Jr.” DCHS students to put on production of Teter Pan Jr.’ By Erica Jones ejones@dawsonnews.com This Thursday through Sunday, students in the Dawson County High School theater department will put on a production of “Peter Pan Jr.”, the first student-directed show that the group has performed. The production is based on the well-known story of Peter Pan, a mischievous young boy who can fly and never wants to grow up. While it’s not the Disney version of the story so not all of the songs match those in the Disney movie, it features songs throughout that are guaranteed to entertain audience members of all ages. For the first time for the DCHS theater depart ment, this production will be directed by two stu dents: 11th grader Abigail Wright and 12th grader Cadence Giovinazzi. For months, the pair has been working on a wide range of tasks to prepare for opening night. “It is entirely student-produced — Abigail and I choreographed, we blocked everything — so I think it’s just impressive that students put it all together,” Giovinazzi said. During a Jan. 9 hearing Bearden said it mattered for him “to at least identify” a tentative time of year for Jeremy Wade Gibson’s trial, since personnel from lawyers and deputies to bailiffs, court reporters and future jurors would have to plan their calendars around proceedings. Gibson, 48, is charged with shooting his wife, Amy Alexandria Gibson, multiple times in front of their 5- and 8-year-old children in the Fire Station No. 7 park ing lot on July 29, 2019, according to a Dawson County indictment.
