So that was the motivation for making sure that we get fresh, quality products and making the best burger.’ Sandeep Kadur Whataburger Growth Market Leader By Erica Jones ejones@dawsonnews.com On Tuesday Dec. 9, Whataburger celebrated its recently-opened Dawson County location with a ribbon-cutting cer emony and a grand open ing celebration. The Texas-based fast food chain opened its Dawson County location at 81 Duval Road as a drive-through in mid- November, and most recently the location offi cially opened its dining room as well. Unlike many other local fast food locations, Whataburger is open 24/7 to allow guests to visit anytime day or night. During the ribbon-cut- ting ceremony, Whataburger’s Growth Market Leader Sandeep Kadur explained that the chain originally grew out of a dream by its founder Harmon Dobson, who wanted to open a burger stand that served the best burger in town. “His dream was to open a burger stand where peo ple would hold the burger in two hands, bite into it and say ‘what a burger’.” Kadur said. “Fast forward to this year, and we’ll be opening our 1,000th loca tion next week. So that was the motivation for making sure that we get fresh, quality products and making the best burg er.” Operating Partner Richard Anderson said that he and his team are incredibly excited to be up and running in Dawson County, and that the reception by the com munity since their drive through first opened in November has been posi tive. “You guys have been so supportive of us and this team; we really want to be able to keep up that momentum,” Anderson said. “I could not be more excited to be the operating partner of this unit; our team is excited to have y’all here.” The goal of Whataburger leadership is to create a brand known for its “bold flavors, extraordinary hospitality and meaningful connec tions”, he added, so he and his team are excited to create that culture at the Dawson County loca tion. “We want to be able to serve this community,” Anderson said. “We’re really excited to be part of the community here in Dawsonville.” The Dawson County Chamber of Commerce partnered with Whataburger for the rib bon-cutting ceremony, and before officially cut ting the ribbon the cham ber president and CEO Mandy Power voiced her excitement to have the restaurant open in Dawson County. “We are super thrilled to be here to cut a long- awaited ribbon,” Power said. “To finally have y’all here and open, we are so excited.” Whataburger representatives, joined by Dawson County Chamber of Commerce and community members, officially cut the ribbon on the chain’s Dawson County loca tion on Tuesday Jan.9.
