Gold Creek Food’s continual
discharge of high strength
wastewater has damaged the
city of Dawsonville’s sewer sys
tem and wastewater treatment
plant, according to the city’s
most recent filing in a federal
lawsuit.
The city’s May 29 response is
the latest development in the
regional poultry processor’s
lawsuit against the city govern
ment and officials over millions
of dollars in fines linked to
wastewater discharge viola
tions.
Gold Creek Foods, LLC and
Gold Creek Processing, LLC
filed the lawsuit against the city
on April 12 in the Gainesville
division of the U.S. District
Court for the Northern District
of Georgia.
Gold Creek’s complaint
named Dawsonville Mayor
John Walden, all four city coun
cil members, City Manager Bob
Bolz and Utilities Director
Jacob Barr as defendants.
City officials learned about
the lawsuit only after it had
been filed, according to a previ
ous city press release.
