Dawson County couple Sondra and Lance Perry recently hosted their annual “Perry Palooza” lakeside
event from June 8-9 to raise money for nonprofit The Place’s food pantry in Dawsonville.
The Place’s Dawson County outreach coordinator, Amy Palmer, holds up a children’s
book, written by Sondra Perry. “Perry Palooza” event attendees could give $10 to The
Place and get a lock to put on the Perry property’s bridge or a children’s book. They
could also scan a QR code to digitally donate.

Attendees had the

This year, in addition to
the $10 donation option,
Palmer had flyers avail

could be specifically
tracked for the event.
Some people even
brought food or thrift
store donations to the
gathering.
“They give back to
where they live,” Palmer
said, “and they’re just
great supporters [of The

Activities during the

food trucks and ice

swimming, fireworks
Saturday and a fishing

“Kids just had a ball,
and folks appreciated
having a nice place to get
together,” Perry added.
“We met many local folks
we didn’t know that are
now acquaintances, hope
fully to grow into friends.
We loved it.”
