NEIGHBORHOOD SNAPSHOT: CANDLER PARK Candler Park is named after Coca-Cola magnate Asa Candler, who donated the 55-acre parkland to the city in 1922. Since that time, a neighborhood full of bungalows, cottages, retail shops and restaurants has taken shape around the park. Clockwise: Han Vance snapped this photo of Maria Nagy of Palacsinta making Hungarian crepes at her stand near the park; crowds gather in the park for regular movie nights during the spring and summer months; the shops and restaurants along McLendon Avenue; stop in for pancakes and other goodies at the original Flying Biscuit Cafe; one of the neighborhood’s adorable cottages.
