The below street level dead zone of parking adjacent to Philips Arena known as The Gulch
is being touted as prime space for Amazon’s new headquarters complex, according to a
report from the Atlanta Business Chronicle. An Oct. 30 filing with the city could suggest
the groundwork is being laid at the Downtown property for Amazon’s $5 billion HQ2.
An undisclosed party has filed plans to develop 9.3 million square feet of office, 1 million
square feet of retail space, a 1,500-room hotel and 2,100 apartments at the site.
Polsinelli has been named “Law Firm of the Year” in FFealth Care by U.S. News & World
Report in its 2018 “Best Law Firms” list.
Kroger’s Adanta Division recently donated 17 pallets of apparel and shoes to the United
Way of Greater Atlanta. The donation will support the United Way as it continues
its mission of providing resources to improve the well-being of children, families and
individuals in the community.

restaurants to be announced in the future. The expansion will take place at the
north end of the mall, which means that Belk department store will have to
close next summer. Phipps Plaza will remain open through the construction
process, which will continue until 2020.
Hyatt Regency Adanta has dedicated a 1,600 sq. ft. luxury suite overlooking its famous
atrium lobby in honor of Civil Rights icon Coretta Scott King, who was a regular guest of
the Downtown hotel. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference meeting in August
1967 — attended by Mrs. King and her husband Martin Luther King Jr. — was the second
event the hotel ever hosted.
Larkin on Memorial in Grant Park will be home to Vibe Ride’s second studio and first
franchise. The indoor cycling studio focuses on high-energy, motivating workouts paired

Cap Tech, a national IT management consulting firm, expects to create 100 jobs by
the end of 2018 in Atlanta, up from its original estimate of 50 as announced in 2016.
Additionally, CapTech just relocated its expanded operations to a new 6,100 sq. ft.
location in Midtown.
Synovus Bank has opened a new branch at the Station R apartment complex and retail
center at 144 Moreland Ave., across the street from the Edgewood Retail District.
QUICK QUICK newsagent and boutique bodega will open its first location on the first
floor of Ponce City Market. Run by Jarrod Hunter Levine, the bodega will offer over 50
international arts, culture, fashion, design and lifestyle periodicals, as well as a few staple
daily newspapers, along with a selection of drinks, snacks, household and dry goods,
