Le- titia “Tish” Naghise, Gov. The Peachtree City Ele mentary School media center was visited by an “out-of-this-world” author. Deborah Lee Rose, a chil dren's author whose book was sent to the Inter national Space Station, re cently visited with kindergarten and second grade students. Rose is the author of multiple children's books, including “Astronauts Zoom!,” which was sent with astronauts to the Inter national Space Station and will be recorded and read to students from space. Stu dents enjoyed learning about a scientist’s life on the space station and also learn ing about what it takes to become a book author, ac cording to school officials. Media Specialist Dr. Amanda White says she was thrilled to connect Rose with the young Panthers. Rose is a close friend of the Tolawak family at the school who arranged for the visit and also donated a set of the author's books to the library collection. Brian Kemp issued an order for a special election to be held on May 16 to fill the vacancy. Advance/early voting for Tyrone residents will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, April 24-29, May 1-6, and May 8-12 at the former police station at 945 Senoia Road in Ty rone. If a runoff is needed, it will take place on June 13. The candidate filing dead line is April 5. On election day, Tyrone residents will cast ballots at their regular polling lo cation, which can be found by utilizing the Georgia My Voter webpage or by con tacting the Fayette County Registrar’s Office. Fayette County resident Marius L. Lehmann, 65, was taken into custody on March 24 by Peachtree City Police and charged with two counts of child molestation and two counts of enticing a child for indecent exposure and sexual battery, accord ing to reports. Authorities reported this is not the first time Leh mann has been accused. “We have two separate incidents. [The first] in 2021 involved this subject and the same victim. I can’t de scribe what happened, but it was inappropriate physical touching,” said PTC PD per sonnel. Lehmann was taken to Fayette County Jail. In an unrelated incident, PTC PD report the arrests of two men for first-degree for gery, which officers said they believe was “inten tional.” According to the report, officers responded to Home Depot on Highway 54 re garding suspicious activity and the possibility of theft. When officers arrived, one male subject fled on foot but was caught after a brief pur suit. Officers began investi gating and identified the two men as 32-year-old Jus tin C. Eubanks and 30-year- old Kevin B. Terrell. According to officials, Eubanks had active war rants for robbery in Newton County. Eubanks was charged Marius L. Lehmann Justin C. Eubanks Kevin B. The variance request came from Juan Del Rio, who presented conceptual site plans and building el evations for the property as Planning Specialist Nicole Gilbert presented the appli cant’s prior request to the board. “In 2021, Atwell LLC re ceived their approval to con struct a Sonic at 885 North Glynn Street. Their concep tual site plan and building elevations were approved. The proposed restaurant was to be just over 1,200 square feet with a single lane drive-thru, outer seat ing, and drive-up parking with canopy stalls. It was approved with several con ditions,” explained Gilbert. Gilbert described how the conceptual site plan and building elevations have been improved. “The current request is for special exception to allow a restaurant with a drive-thru in order to con struct a 1,200-square-foot restaurant with a two-lane drive-thru.
