Wednesday, May 3,2023 Fayette County News A3 Submitted House Ways and Means Committee Holds Field Hearing in Peachtree City Leah Banks Investigative Reporter leah@fayette-news.net PEACHTREE CITY - On Friday, April 21, Con gressman Drew Ferguson (GA-03) and the Georgia House Committee on Ways and Means Chair man Jason Smith (MO- 08) held a field hearing in Peachtree City on the state of the American economy: The South. During the hearing, four witnesses from the area shared their experi ences and were provided with a platform to discuss hardships they face within the community. Witnesses included David Bergman, president of NAECO, LLC; Alison Couch, owner of Ignite Accounting; Lisa Winton, CEO of Winton Machine Company; and Matt Liv ingston, owner of Coach’s Bar and Grill. The hearing began with discussions on the current economic state and Americans living and working in communities across the country. According to a press release from the commit tee, the conversations in the hearing were intended to focus on the impacts of the Biden economy, in cluding record-high infla tion, increased inflation, increased input costs, labor shortages, combat ting China, and chal lenges facing supply chains of critical impor tance. Fayette Commission Approves $17,330 Bid for Tyrone Sewer, Construction Easements Sydney Spencer News Reporter sspencer@fayette-news.net Fayette County Com missioners voted unani mously April 25 to award a $17>33° bid for the purchase of a sewer easement and a tempo rary construction ease ment for Tax Parcel ID 0726-017 in Tyrone. Commission Attorney Dennis Davenport pre sented the request to the board and told them the issue was discussed in at a meeting earlier in the year. “Sometime back, I approached the board to let them know that there’s a development in Tyrone that’s actually across the railroad tracks behind fire station number three in Ty rone,” informed Daven port. “They’re looking to locate the Tyrone sewer system and in order to do that, they had to cross over county property on the south side of the fire system.” Davenport further ex plained the process and purchase of the ease ments. “...Temporary ease ment was advertised, [and] an invitation to bid was issued for anyone interested in purchasing the per manent easement and temporary construction Sheriff Reports Arrests The following arrests and charges were re cently reported by Fay ette County Sheriff’s Office: Dominick C. Allen — theft by shoplifting. John Burkhardt — first degree battery (Family Violence Act). Quintavious J. Gooch — theft by shoplifting. Nicholas A. Lynch — theft by shoplifting. Mario A. Muckle — second degree forgery. Tanayza L. Payne — theft by shoplifting. Braylon R. Shivers — theft by shoplifting. Shayla D. Baker— fi nancial transaction card fraud. David A. Walthall — possession of Schedule I controlled substance. 2023 All American 5K/1 OK Set May 20 American Legion Post 50 and Peachtree City Running Club will host the 2023 All American 5K/10K on May 20 at Frederick Brown Jr. Am phitheater, located at 201 McIntosh Trail in Peach tree City.
