Wilder provided insight on the
impact the film industry could
bring to the city financially,
while also proposing various
safety measures and applica
tion fees to maintain structure.
During the workshop,
council members expressed
that they liked how the pro
posed ordinance was written
and brought it back in the next
council meeting for approval.
“Peachtree City needed
this ordinance because it
means that if someone wants
to film on city property, then
well get a handle ahead of
time on what they’re going to
need, for how long, and at
what location,” Learnard said.
“Whether they will need the
police department to help with
traffic indues, whether they
will need barricades, or any
thing else.”
Learnard says she believes
this new ordinance will pro
vide for a steady and formal
permitting process and allow
for the establishment of a
“reasonable set of fees.”
“We want to encourage
filming in Peachtree City.
We’re excited about that, but
we need to do it safely and
with minimal inconvenience
to Peachtree City citizens,”
Learnard said.
In other business, the
council adopted a civility res
olution during the May 18
council meeting, regarding
employee conduct and how
staff members treat one
another.
“The Georgia Municipal
Association is encouraging all
of the 535 cities in the state of
Georgia to adopt a resolution
of civility,” Learnard said. “I
believe that civility is the foun
dation for effective govern
ance, so I’m very proud to say
that we passed a civility res
olution in our council meet
ing.”
County Budget,
Continued from Front
Total revenue for the op
erating budget accounts for
$127.5 million of revenues,
while the CIP budget makes
up the other $7.7 million.
Operating expenses total
$123.3 million, while the CIP
budget accounts for $8.3
million.
Funds for the rolling five-
year capital improvement
program are at $6.9 million.
With a proposed 12.5
percent pay increase for all
county employees, law en
forcement pay will equate to
five percent below the re
cently increased pay for
Peachtree City police of
ficers.
Weinmann noted that
local option sales tax reve
nues have increased over ex
pected revenue for FY2023.
The budget includes
funding for slightly more
than 788 county employees,
with full-time equivalent em
ployment up 2.12 percent,
16.375 net, from FY2023.
Compared to millage
rates of surrounding and
comparable counties, Fay
ette’s millage rate of about 8
is the fourth lowest of 16
neighboring counties, higher
than only Carroll, Forsyth,
and Paulding counties.
The first public hearing
for the budget is scheduled
for Thursday, June 8 at 5
p.m., and the second will be
held on Thursday, June 22,
at 5 p.m. Both hearings will
be held in the public meeting
room of the Fayette County
Administrative Complex, lo
cated at 140 Stonewall Ave
nue West in Fayetteville.
