Three Arrested for Mail Theft
at Kenwood Business Park

Fern Adrienne Lloyd crowned Miss Georgia State Fair Queen Submitted

State Fair Queen 2023
Fayette County resident Fern Adrienne
Lloyd was recently crowned Miss Georgia
State Fair Queen during the 2023 Georgia
State Fair Pageant on Oct. 7 at Atlanta Motor
Speedway in Hampton.
Lloyd was crowned in the “Queen of the
Miss” division for competitors ages 20 and
older. She was also awarded “Prettiest Eyes”
and “Prettiest Smile.”
Fern Lloyd is no stranger to the crown.
She is the current reigning “Ms. Classic South
2024,” “Ms. Southern Magnolia 2023,” and
“Ms. Taylor County Forestry 2023.” She is
also the reigning “Miss Georgia Strawberry
Princess,” presented at the Georgia Straw
berry Festival in Reynolds.
Lloyd appeared as a judge for the first an
nual “Miss Mule Days” pageant in Thomas-

ATLANTA - On Oct. 12,
Georgia Watch presented its
2023 Consumer Champion
awards to six advocates and
legislators for their work to pro
tect and empower consumers in
Georgia, including Rep. Josh
Bonner (R-Fayetteville), De
fense and Veterans Affairs Com
mittee chairman, who received
the “Consumer Champion
Award for Fair Lending” for his
work to protect Georgians from
predatory car title lending.
During the 2023 legislative
session, Rep. Bonner introduced
the Motor Vehicle Title Loan
Act, which would require state
wide regulation of car title
lenders who prey on cash-
strapped Georgia families, often
trapping them in a cycle of debt.
If the bill becomes law in 2024,
it will make them subject to the
state’s 60 percent cap on inter
est rates and regulation by the
Department of Banking and Fi
nance.
Currently, a legal loophole
allows car titles to be “pawned”
at interest rates as high as 300
