Tyrone Road, Flat Creek Trail Intersection
Traffic Signal Conversion Slated Dec. 8
The intersection of Ty
rone Road and Flat Creek
Trail will be converted to a
traffic signal-controlled inter
section on Friday, Dec. 8, ac
cording to Fayette County
officials, who say the goal is to
alleviate congestion and delay
times during morning and af
ternoon peak hours.
The change from the ex
isting all-way stop to a traffic
signal is based on a traffic
engineering analysis con
ducted by Pond & Company.
As a result of the study, a sig
nalized intersection will pro
vide acceptable
level-of-service for the fore
seeable future without the ad
dition of turning lanes,
although they may be re
quired as part of a larger proj
ect as growth in the area
continues, officials add.
Lumin8 Transportation
Technologies, LLC, installed
the signal. Until Dec. 8, it will
operate in red blink mode to
test the equipment. Variable
message boards and minor
changes to road striping will
be placed on all approaches to
notify drivers of the pending
change.

Learnard Clears
the Air of Tennis
Center Rumors
Leah Banks
Senior Reporter

The leadership in Peach
tree City has been under the
watchful eye of its citizens in
recent months, but one of
the most pressing matters
on the minds of many PTC
residents is the future of the
Peachtree City Tennis
Center.
According to PTC Mayor
Kim Learnard, rumors
about a possible closure
began to swirl throughout
the city. The rumors were so
prominent that they led cit
izens to speak at city council
meetings to inquire about
the validity of the gossip.
Learnard has since
made multiple statements
regarding the tennis center
and hearsay of its closure,
emphasizing that the coun
cil and city have no plans to
close the center. But in her
most recent statement, she
highlighted that the center
will be under new manage
ment starting the first of the
year.
PTC Mayor Kim Learnard
“I have always said that
Peachtree City’s tennis
center is a jewel in the
crown of our many wonder
ful recreation facilities,”
Learnard said. “We have
hundreds of people who
enjoy the tennis center on a
regular basis. As of No
vember... we received notice
that the city [will not be re
newing the contract with
the former operator] to op
erate the tennis center after
Dec. 31, 2023.”
Although the contract
was not renewed, Learnard
expressed that the center
