OBITUARIES A2 Fayette County News Harvard Winchell Davis Harvard Winchell Davis, “Dave,” born Jan. 10, 1935, in New Haven, Conn., passed away May 2, 2024, in Brooks, at the age of 89. Dave was a dedicated and skilled mechanic ini tially, and for the following 38 years, for Eastern Air lines, where he began as an aircraft cleaner, earned his A&P license, and went on to work in all the various shops. He retired from Northwest Airlines in 2008. He found joy in being a part of car clubs, with his favorite car being the Ford Falcon, and spent countless hours restoring cars. He also enjoyed whittling. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Dave’s presence brought warmth and love to all who knew him. He cherished his family above all else and found immense joy in being surrounded by his adored wife, Irene, whom he was married to for 69 years; his daughters, Karen, Donna, and Julie; his grandchil dren, Shane, Chad, Olivia, and Allison; as well as his five great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Dave was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge, where he found ca maraderie and community. His kind and generous spirit touched the lives of many, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Dave is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marion Davis. The family will host a memorial service to honor Dave’s life, at a later date, celebrating the legacy of a man who brought light and love wherever he went. Linda Poindexter Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, sister, and friend, Linda Poindexter, age 74, passed away May 2, 2024, in Tyrone. She was born Feb. 25, 1950, in Atlanta, to her mother, Dorothy Dalton, and her father, Thomas Dalton. She went to Brown High School and went to nursing school, where she became an LPN. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Doro thy and Thomas Dalton; and her brother, Karl Dal ton. Linda is survived by her daughters, Sherry Thomas (Darrell), Jenny Jackson, Cathy Cross (Bryan); grandchildren, Michael Thomas, Karl Jackson (Parker), Matthew Thomas (Britteny), Christopher Myers, Justice Vincent, Courtney Myers, Chasity Hicks; great-grandchildren, Jett Lei, Teagan Jackson, Hallee Lei; sisters, Brenda Reed, Sandra Presley (Ray mond); brothers, Wayne Dalton, Larry Dalton (Bai lie), James Dalton (Kelly); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Linda cherished her re lationship with her family, friends, and our God. She always tried to help those in need. She enjoyed her young ones she would ba bysit. She was the absolute Wednesday, May 15,2024 BEST mother, grand mother, and great-grand mother. The memories she made with each of them will be cherished forever. Some of Linda's favorite things were the color blue, and feeding and watching birds. She loved her plants and sunflowers. She loved our God and shared His word with others. She loved to sing and play piano. Linda will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. It is comforting to know that she is with our Lord. We were blessed to have her in our lives.
