Healing Bridge Clinic Announces ‘Need for $peed’ Fall Fundraiser: Healing Bridge Clinic recently announced the return of its highly anticipated “Need for $peed” fall fundraiser, slated Oct. 9 at Porsche Experience Center Atlanta. Event organizers promise a unique blend of high-octane excitement and heartfelt phi lanthropy, all to support HBC's mission of providing free healthcare to uninsured Fayette County residents or surrounding counties. Attendees will gather at Porsche Experience Center, enjoying a captivating evening filled with great music, South ern-inspired food, a live auc tion, and exhilarating laps around the track, according to organizers. "We are incredibly excited to bring our 'Need for $peed' fundraiser back to the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta," said Mike Conaway, executive director of HBC. "This event is not just a critical fundraiser for us, but also a fantastic op portunity for our supporters to experience something truly unique while contributing to our clinic’s mission.” Individual tickets for the "NFS" fall fundraiser start at $150. Annual Air Dot Show Returns to PTC Oct. 11-12: The Atlanta Air Dot Show has dazzled the skies of Peachtree City for years and will return to PTC’s Atlanta Regional Air port - Falcon Field Oct. 11-12. Tickets are on sale now for the annual show, which fea tures the renowned U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, and offi cials say other performers are yet to be announced. The PTC show will be one of seven stops on the tour, with others including Au gusta; Fort Lauderdale; Har risburg, Pa.; Ocean City, Md.; Orlando; Cocoa Beach, Fla.; and New York. Fayette Kiwanis Club Announces 2025 Return of ‘Tour de Frights - Fay etteville Witches' Ride’: Kiwanis Club of Fayette County recently announced the upcoming return of its an nual “Tour de Frights: Fay etteville Witches' Ride,” taking place Oct. 26 from 1:30-5 p.m. Whether under rain or shine, the event will include a four-mile Halloween-themed costumed ride through parts of Fayetteville, according to organizers. Tickets allow participants to ride, enter costume and/or bike decoration contests, and receive a free drink at the end of the ride, courtesy of Line Creek Breweiy. “Deck your bike out and come dressed in your best witch or warlock costume,” said event officials. “The ride will be well-marked with a lead rider and followed by a golf cart sweep to make sure eveiyone makes it.” All proceeds reportedly will benefit Promise Place Women's Shelter, a local non- profit. Pre-registration costs $35 through Oct. 25, and day-of registration is $45. No refunds are offered for the charity event. Fayette Chamber of Commerce Announces Inaugural Nonprofit Fair: Fayette County Chamber of Commerce will host its first-ever nonprofit fair on Nov. 12 from 4-7 p.m. at CAF Airbase Georgia, lo cated at Atlanta Regional Air port-Falcon Field in Peachtree City. The event will highlight the impact of local nonprofits, connect them with area em ployers, and engage the public in discovering ways to support causes that strengthen the community, according to or ganizers. The vision of FCC Non- profit Council is to empower such organizations and sup port broader community through collaboration, visibil ity, and shared resources. “Nonprofits are at the heart of what makes Fayette County thrive,” said Chris Ma drid, chair of the chamber’s nonprofit council. “They ad dress critical needs, enhance quality of life, and bring people together. This fair will give employers and residents the chance to learn how they can support these organiza tions — whether through part nerships, volunteerism, or sponsorships — and make a lasting difference in our com munity.” The fair is expected to pro vide a networking opportunity where local employers can meet nonprofit leaders and identify potential causes to support as part of their corpo rate social responsibility or employee engagement pro grams. Nonprofits can also show case their missions, share up coming initiatives, and recruit both volunteers and donors. The public can explore a wide range of organizations serving Fayette County, from social services to arts, education, healthcare, veterans, and more. CFA Airbase Georgia is an all-volunteer World War II flying museum dedicated to restoring and flying historic aircraft while honoring the men and women of the Great est Generation. It is sponsored by Piedmont Fayette and is also supported by the gener- osify of Healing Bridge Clinic. CAF Airbase is a member of the chamber and Georgia World War II Heritage Trail, serving as both an educational and cultural landmark for the region. “Hosting the fair at CAF Airbase Georgia not only pro vides an inspiring backdrop but also highlights the role that volunteers, and nonprofit organizations play in preserv ing histoiy and educating fu ture generations,” Madrid added. Portal Open for Fay ette Middle School Stu dents to Enter ‘26 National Civics Bee: Fayette Community & Leadership Foundation, the 501(c)(3) arm of Fayette Chamber of Commerce, has announced opening of the student registration portal for NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE Fayette County has tentatively adopted a mil lage rate which will require an increase in prop erty taxes by 1.87%. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at Fay ette County Administrative Complex Commis sion Chambers, 140 Stonewall Avenue West in Fayetteville on October 16, 2025 at 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at Fayette County Ad ministrative Complex Commission Chambers, 140 Stonewall Avenue West, Fayetteville on October 23, 2025 at 5:00 pm. This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 3.763 mills, an increase of 0.069 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 3.694 mills. The pro posed tax increase for a home with a fair mar ket value of $500,000 is approximately $13.45 and the proposed tax increase for nonhomes tead property with a fair market value of $550,000 is approximately $15.18. the 2026 local rendition of the National Civics Bee. The initiative, held in col laboration with U.S. Chamber Foundation, invites middle school students across Fayette County to “showcase their knowledge of civics and en gage in meaningful dialogue about the future of our de mocracy,” officials com mented. National Civics Bee is de signed to encourage young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their com munities. Participating stu dents will have the opportunity to compete lo cally, with winners advancing to state and potentially na tional levels. “We are thrilled to bring this opportunity to Fayette County students,” said FCC President Leonardo McClarty. “Civic engagement is the cor nerstone of a thriving com munity, and this competition helps foster leadership, awareness, and responsibility among our youth.” The essay application por tal will close on Feb. 3, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Middle school students in terested in participating can submit their entries through the official portal.
