Sparky, the Dalmation, was present at the Baldwin County Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 1,to remind citizens to be careful around fires. Wallick named Morris-Little Post 6 Legionnaire of the Year William “Bill” Wallick, a member of the Morris- Little Post 6 American Legion in Milledgeville, was honored for his commitment to The American Legion. Morris-Little Post 6 Commander John W. Griffin presented Wallick with a certificate commem orating his support to the organization. Griffin said he is proud of Wallick and felt priv ilege to present him the Legionnaire of the Year Award. Wallick, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, has served as Morris- Little Post 6 Building Committee Chairman for 13 years and continues to serve the post. He also opens the post for meetings, assists in the preparation of meals, puts away delivery supplies and helps maintain the post. “His input is always highly considered,” Griffin said. Registration open for Sodexo Bobcat classic golf tourney The Annual Sodexo Bobcat Classic Golf Tournament, one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for Georgia College athletics, is right around the corner. The event will take place on Monday, Sept. 25 at Harbor Club on Lake Oconee in Greensboro. There will be tee times offered for the morning and afternoon. While the chance to hit the links at Harbor Club is often incentive enough to sign up for the annual tournament, the door prizes at the Bobcat Classic are often second to none. “It’s a great day of fun and fellowship on one of the finest golf courses anywhere,” said Athletic Director Wendell Staton. “Proceeds directly benefit our student athletes. According to the release, detectives retrieved a surveillance video from the Putnam County business and determined the people were involved in that incident as well. “Based on their clothing in both surveillance videos, we were able to determine that it was the same guys from our burglary case,” he said.
