Austin Trease, 22, of Milledgeville, was arrested and charged with obstruction of police by resisting arrest and theft by receiving property stolen in another state, which is a felony. According to the narrative, officer Chanda Hogan was advised via text message of a speeding complaint filed in the lobby of the sheriff s depart ment, around 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 4. “It was reported that an older model red vehicle with a broken side mirror and an out of state tag had been speeding up and down Russwood Road,” Hogan wrote in the narrative. When Hogan arrived to the scene, she looked throughout the area and could not find the vehicle, later revealed to be a 2005 Pontiac Vibe on the road. For many the storms meant time off of work and school, while for others it meant going out and helping those in need. As of press time Wednesday, Sept. 13, Baldwin County Schools and Georgia College had not reopened their campuses. Central Georgia Technical College, Georgia Military College and John Milledge Academy reopened on Wednesday. Starting in the 2018-19 school year, GMC Prep will add fourth and fifth grades to its school. Right now, the school only serves students from grades 6 through 12. “We announced in May that we were expanding our prep school from grades 6 through 12 to 4 through 12,” said Col. Pam Grant, principal of GMC Prep. “This is not going to be a huge expansion.” According to the presentation given to the commissioners, GMC Prep will be adding 40 students per SEE COUNTY » A2 » PATRIOT DAY GMC honors 9/11 victims before anniversary CARRIE MOON carrie@bbnews.today Georgia Military College held a Patriots Day Ceremony on Friday, Sept. 8 in remembrance of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Prep school students gathered in an organized formation surrounding the Grant Parade Field at GMC early Friday morning. All in attendance stood in unity as the ceremony began with a moment of silence. Georgia Military College president Lt. Gen. William B. Caldwell publically addressed prep students in formation and Patriots Day essay winners. Patriot Day essays were read aloud by GMC prep faculty, beginning with “My life as an American - a reflection of what it means to be an American.” Three students were also honored with scholarships.
