Your hometown newspaper for Milledgeville and Baldwin County, Georgia. » BALDWIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE Authorities seek info on murder CARRIE MOON carrie@bbnews.today The murder of a Milledgeville woman is still under investigation by authorities with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Baldwin County Sheriffs Office. On Friday, Oct. 20, the BCSO turned over the investigation to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). The incident, a shooting, occurred Thursday night on Georgia Highway 212 near the intersection of Lowe Road in the northwestern part of the county. According to a release sent out by the BCSO on Facebook, they are requesting the public’s help for more information. The post also says the incident occurred between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Baldwin County Sheriff Bill Massee is reaching out to the public for additional information that will assist with the investigation of this case. If any one has video footage between 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19 and 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, Sheriff Massee has requested the tapes to be turned in to assist with the investigation. Massee said he’s trying to generate as much information from the community as possible that might be helpful in the ongoing investigation. Restaurants are not the only centers of commerce affected by people flooding in for Deep Roots, but several grocery stores, hotels and gas stations get busi ness from the festival as well. “It definitely is our biggest day for sales hands down,” Bob Ewing, one of Amici’s owners, said. “It’s not even just the indi vidual day, it’s Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well, so it’s almost a full week filled with events and stuff going on in the city.” The entire week for Amici started off SEI DEEP ROOTS »A2 BBQ contest, car show contribute to festival CARRIE MOON carrie@bbnews.today While many people attend Deep Roots for the music and art vendors, the annual barbecue contest and car show draw many people to the annual event. Tourists and locals showed up Saturday, Oct. 21 to partic ipate in this year’s festival, and there was something there to entertain everyone in attendance. Individuals and businesses participated and a multitude of contests, ensuring a special experience throughout the day and into the evening. Participants had many opportunities to win prizes as well. One such contest was the car show hosted by Milledgeville’s Old Capital Car Club. Walter Reynolds, C.E.O of Old Capital productions, presented the Apollo project and what it entails to the board during its Wednesday, Oct. 18 meeting on the CSH campus.
