Deep Roots Continued from A1 with a lot going on downtown, and that didn’t even end after Deep Roots was finished. The Amici franchise sees more sales during Deep Roots than any other time, said the establishment’s other owner, Jon Joiner. “There are currently eight locations of Amici, so on the Saturday of Deep Roots, it’s by far the largest sales record for the company,” Joiner said. “It’s that way every year.” Amici wasn’t the only business to see an increase of revenue. The show occurred on Wayne Street. also received a lot of business on Saturday. “Deep Roots is an impactful day on multiple levels,” Mike Hufstetler, Buffington’s owner, said. “There’s obviously the financial gain that is much needed, and it’s our busiest day of the year by far.” With so much business pouring into the restau rants on one day, the staff can get a little over whelmed and overworked. Meeting the demands of customers can be hard on a normal day, but Deep Roots puts customer service throughout Milledgeville to the test. “It also works as a stress test for us and our staff. It brings up learning moments for us to get better as well,” Hufstetler said. It’s kind of hard to order a stress test, but Deep Roots is the best way you can possibly do that.” Amici welcomed a lot of customers, old and new during the music festival. Amici customers could be heard celebrating during the day, producing loud shouts of energetic delight. “We definitely get a lot of people coming in from out of town. I think it’s an average of 15,000 to 20,000 (each year),” Joiner said. “There were definitely new customers coming in and seeing what we were all about.” Buffington’s also greeted new customers through it’s doors as the day progressed, showing that impact isn’t all about money, but also about foot traffic. “We do get a lot of new faces and different people in the building,” Hufstetler said. “This year it seemed to start a little slow, but then got stronger throughout the day, but we saw new faces come in that day for sure.” Deep Roots brings in a lot of people from out of town, but also draws in local people. The Milledgeville community welcomed all downtown during Deep Roots, not only to greet new friends, but to relax and have fun with old friends. “The best thing I think we see from Deep Roots is the community involve ment,” Hufstetler said. “Community involvement seems stronger during the Hometown Celebration days, it’s still great anytime we can get the neighbors out in the streets talking to each other, drinking, having a good time. I think it’s good for our community and I like the community growth that it brings.” Rf RESTYLE YOUR FUR DO YOU HAVE AN OLD FUR HANGING IN THE CLOSET, NOT BEING WORN? PREPARE FOR UPCOMING WINTER!
