The end result will be somewhere between 375-425 new jobs, and hiring should begin this spring, according to officials. “We are incredibly excited. This is a centerpiece for our overall repurposing efforts at the campus,” said Mike Couch, exec utive director of the Central State Local Redevelopment Authority. “They will need everything, from janitorial staff all the way up to flash freeze kitchen.” Thousands of meals were prepared each day, frozen and shipped off to different mental hospitals and state prisons throughout Georgia. That was then, however, and this is now. The building is being re-imagined as the Georgia Agribusiness Development Center. Kevin Lim, owner of Little Tokyo Steakhouse and Sushi, is also placing a premium on parking, so much so that he’s spending around $700,000 just to move across the street. Construction is ongoing at Little Tokyo’s future location at 2588 North Columbia St., located in the Walmart shop ping center and previously home to Mellow Mushroom. The current incarnation of Little Tokyo, located in the strip mall directly across the highway, will remain open until renovations at the old Mellow Mushroom building SEE TOKYO » A3 Athletic complex at BHS expected for Summer 2018 CARRIE MOON carrie@bbnews.today Upgrades to athletic facilities are expected by next school year, according to a presen tation given during a work session held by the Baldwin County Board of Education on Monday, Nov. 11. The Athletic Complex will be built to house a number of recreational activities, including tennis courts, baseball, softball and soccer facilities. After deliberating approximately 50 minutes Wednesday, Nov. 15, the jury of 10 women and two men returned with the guilty verdict on all three charges - felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault. On that final day of the trial, several more friends and family members joined Ivanditti’s dozen or so family members who had been there since the trial began Monday, Nov. 6. Causey’s girl friend, Shaquita Matthews, also was in the courtroom Wednesday - her first day to be there. The family members of both the victim and the murderer shed tears after Putnam County Clerk Superior Court Clerk Sheila Perry read the verdict aloud in the courtroom.
