Man remains on the run from cops
STAFF REPORTS
A man who was sentenced to
10 years on probation several
months ago once again is in
trouble with the law, this time
accused of “fighting” with a sher

Fredlando Montavious
Justice, 25, was still on the run
as of press time Wednesday. He
is facing charges of obstruction
of an officer and possession
of marijuana with intent to
distribute.
Justice and another man
were pulled over near the Elbert
Street/Vinson Highway forks
late last week. That’s when
Justice reportedly began scuf
fling with a deputy and bolting
from the scene, disappearing
from sight around Cline Avenue.
Justice in August was
sentenced to 10 years on proba
tion for aggravated assault,
felony theft by receiving, posses
sion of a synthetic cannabinoid
and possession of a firearm or
knife during the possession of a
crime.
In May of this year, mean
while, a woman relayed to
officers that Justice came over to
her house and destroyed several
items, including a television.
Justice also was arrested
in 2016 and charged with
aggravated assault following
an incident at Rod’s Stop and
Shop. In 2014, meanwhile, he
was arrested and charged with
armed robbery, false imprison
ment and affray.

Falco named top cop dog
Celebrates with

CHRISTIAN MCKEARNEY

When racehorse American
Pharaoh won the Kentucky Derby
in 2015, his reward was a bundle of
carrots.
When German shepherd Falco
won “K9 of the Year” earlier this
week, his reward was Chick-fil-A
nuggets.
Indeed, it’s one of those situ
ations where everyone is cele
brating but the animal, who’d
rather not deal with the pomp and
circumstance.
“Falco really isn’t all that social.
He probably is just ready for
things to get back to normal,” said
Milledgeville Police Department
Officer Line Boyer, Falco’s handler.
Falco, who turned 4 this week,
beat out 99 other police dogs
to win the Georgia Police K9
Foundation’s 2018 “K9 of the Year”
award. The contest was based
on Facebook votes, and Falco’s

WIL PETTY
wil@bbnews.today
Representatives from the City
of Milledgeville, the Milledgeville
Housing Authority and other
contributors to a massive $2.3
million project came together at
Habersham Homes on Monday,
Dec. 10 to announce the kickoff of
renovations and improvements to the
neighborhood.
“This is a very proud moment
for me,” said Carrie Jarrett, vice
chairman of the MH A board. “From
the time I was appointed by the
then mayor, I have done everything
I could to influence and work with
the commissioners and everyone
to improve the housing at the
Milledgeville Housing Authority.”
The project, funded by the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban
Development, will renovate all 149
housing units in Habersham and
Wray homes.
“We are finally at the point where
we are going to have a project going
to actually show our residents that
we are sincere about improving the
housing here,” Jarrett said.

City Council discusses
stormwater fund
WIL PETTY
wil@bbnews.today
On Tuesday night, during the
Milledgeville City Council’s work
session, conversations continued in
regards to a stormwater fund for city
residents.
Courtney Reich, owner of
Ecological Planning Group, projected
the fund would garner close to
$720,000 in its first year for the city
if approved. At that point, general
fund money could be used for other
projects while the stormwater fund
would be storm drainage and other
related public works projects.
“Were moving from looking at the
feasibility of the utility to moving into
implementation,” Reich said.
A stormwater fund is nothing new
in the state of Georgia. As of 2018,
60 cities in Georgia have these funds
including Griffin, Americus, Albany
and Statesboro. City council would
have to approve a set rate for the
enterprise fund, as well as approve
having one in the first place.
Reich, using a estimated rate of
$3.95 a month, which is below the
