L HARTFORD FATALITY CONTINUED FROM » A1 Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center is brief and only includes one arrest for criminal trespass, which occurred earlier this month. According to the MPD, Ford was driving a black Mazda and Dennis a red Nissan. Multiple witnesses indicated that Dennis’ red Nissan was sitting at a stop sign at the intersection of Evans Avenue and Oconee Street. According to a press release: “the black (Mazda) stopped behind the red vehicle. Dennis exited his (red Nissan) and approached Ford’s vehicle, where a verbal altercation ensued; and at some point Dennis ended up in front of (Ford’s black Mazda).” When officers arrived, “they observed a large crowd of people and a male laying on his back next to the driver’s side of a red 2013 Nissan Sentra.” The other key piece of information in this case is a pistol belonging to Dennis. While estab lishing a crime scene, “responding officers found a handgun in plain view on the driver’s side floorboard of (Dennis’ red Nissan),” according to the MPD. However, detectives ultimately determined that “the handgun...was moved from the roadway to his vehicle by an indi vidual prior to officers arriving to the scene.” Detectives have declined to comment any further to reporters’ questions about “the handgun.” The bad blood appar ently was ongoing, and the incident was not the first interaction between the two men. During the investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance footage from earlier this year “showing a large of people gathered in the area of Evans Street” and “Ford and Dennis in a fighting stance.” Ford’s legal fate most likely will be decided by a Baldwin County grand jury. The next grand jury session is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 7. In Baldwin County, the District Attorney’s Office is required by law to hold a grand jury session on the second Monday of each calendar year. “BROKEN” GARAGE DOOR?
