The Franklin Templeton Shootout is
a team format that pairs PGA Tour
players in a tournament started and
still hosted by the legendary Greg
Norman. The event takes place at
Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida.
Defending: Day/Tringale
Vj/Vinning Score: 32-under par
Tiburon is a WCI community featuring 36 holes of Greg Norman-
designed golf. The first round, on Friday, uses the modified alternate
shot rule; round two, Saturday, utilizes the better ball rule; and the final
round, on Sunday, uses the scramble rule. Last year, Jason Day and
Cameron Tringale won the tournament after shooting a 7-under 65 in the
better-ball final round to finish at 32-under.

• Tiger Woods is resigned to facing
the recovery from his back surgery
on a day-by-day basis with no
future date on the calendar to circle
for his comeback. “There is no timetable for this
(recovery), and that's been the hardest mindset
adjustment is that I don't know. So where is the
light at the end of the tunnel? I don’t know, so
that's been hard,” Woods said. He said he’s still
sore and the extent of his exercise these days is
light stretching and walking. He hasn't hit a golf
ball in two months. Woods sounded at peace with
his career up to this point. “I’ve had a pretty good
career for my 20s and 30s,” he said. “For my 20
years out here I think I’ve achieved a lot, and if
that's all it entails, then I've had a pretty good run.
But I'm hoping that’s not it. I’m hoping that I can get
back out here and compete against these guys.”

One of the most embarrassing things the amateur golfer does is to mis-hit a bunker
^ shot and watch it not get over the lip and roll back into the bunker. Most of the time,
^ our mindset is to just get up to the ball and hack away quickly to get out of the
bunker once and for all. However, did you know that you can use a rake to smooth FedEx Cup Standings continued..
the bunker out before you take that second bunker shot? Rule 13-4 in the Rules of
S' Golf speaks on the matter and states that as long as you do not improve your lie,
raking the bunker is acceptable. Now, let’s say the ball rolled right back into the general vicinity
of where your first shot was hit from. In this case, you can not rake the sand because the lie
would be improved or you would be assisted in making your next stroke.

Davis scored a layup and
Brown drained a 3-pointer
to put Morgan up 8-3.
Hall hit a jumper from
the baseline and yet another
3-pointer to tie the score
again.
Autumn Woodard got in
on 3-point shooting, and
Lou Reed made a nice feed
to Brown that turned into
points as Morgan surged
ahead 17-8 at the end of the
first period.
Davis got the second
period started with a pair of
layups and a 3-pointer, but
Buford was able to stay close
with 9 points of its own to
trail 24-19 with four minutes
left.
The Lady Bulldogs re
sponded with a 15-foot
jumper by Woodard and
stickback by Fortune. The
two teams slugged it out for
the remainder of the half and
Morgan went into the locker
room ahead 39-26.
The Lady Bulldogs played
solid defense in the third
quarter but couldn’t buy a
bucket as Buford chipped
away at what once looked
like a comfortable 13-point
lead.

Morgan County wrestling
coach John Robbins said.
to cut the lead to 10.
A little later Marissa Bruce
completed another 3-point
play to cut the lead to five at
39-34.
Ozment knocked down
two more foul shots and the
lead was only three.
Woodard appeared to
score on layup for Morgan,
but she was called for trav
eling.
Finally, with six minutes
left in the game, Nash scored
to end the drought.
Following a big rebound
by Tyra Smith, Brown got
fouled and made both shots
to give Morgan County a
7-point lead again.
Ozment made a free
throw, but Brown sank a pair
in response.
Then the Lady Wolves
scored 6 straight points to
cut the lead to 45-43.
The Lady Bulldogs needed
a play and they got one.
Brown dealt to Woodard
heading toward the basket
and she dropped ball off to
Reid who hit the layup to
give Morgan a 4-point lead
with 1:25 left.
The Lady Wolves decided
to foul, and Nash went to
the line with 40 seconds left.
She missed the shot, but got
her own rebound and put the
Lady Bulldog up by 6.

“I’m very happy with the
way we wrestled, although I
wish a few of those nail biters
would have gone our way to
give us the win.”
The Bulldogs are now 4-1
after defeating West Hall,
Lanier, and top 10 ranked
Lambert of the AAAAAA
classification.
“I think Saturday at
Lumpkin we started to get
a bit of a rhythm,” Robbins
said. “Overall we wrestled
well, but our lineup is still
shifting a bit. Our guys are
just now approaching 10
or so matches, so we are
starting to get acclimat
ed. It was tough to get only
four through the semi’s and
into the finals when we had
four or five more that nearly
made it. We won the tourney
however by their efforts in
the consolation brackets.”
- T. Michael Stone
Nelson made a foul shot,
Buford got the ball back and
cut the lead to 49-46.
The Lady Wolves then
fouled Brown which might
not have been the best idea.
She made both shots with
13 seconds left to effectively
seal the win.
“We had some mistakes,”
Reeves said after the game. “
Were working on becoming
better teammates and a
better team overall, not
just better players. We have
great players, but we have to
work with each other and its
pretty thing to see when it
all comes together.”
Once again, Brown led the
team with 17 points, while
Nash was also in double
figures with 14. Davis had
9. Woodard scored 7 points
and Fortune had 4. Lou Reid
scored as well.
Against Laney, Lady
Bulldogs surged to a 21-12 in
the first period and added 5
points to the advantage by
outscoring Laney 20-16 in
the next stanza.
Both teams scored 23
points in the third period,
and the Lady Wildcats made
up a little ground with an
18-point fourth period, but
they couldn’t overcome the
deficit.
The Lady Bulldogs,
however, did much better at
the charity stripe, hitting 22
of 29 shots.
Alexis Brown led Morgan
County with 21 points, and
Tatyana Davis knocked
down 20 with 15 in the
second half. Brittany Belser
scored 13 points and hit a
pair of 3-pointers in the first
period. Sydney Nash had
9 points. Jatariea Bryant
scored 5 points, and Ta’Leah
Adams and Salina Fortune
scored 4 each.
