LOA students score big on tests
The College Board
recently released the

PSAT/NMSQT was ad

The results show that LOA

931.
LOA 10th grade

10th grade students met
the ERW benchmark and
80 percent met the Math
benchmark, which is an
outstanding achievement.
The percentage of students
meeting both benchmarks
is 80 percent for LOA

Harbor Club jumps to No. 3
on “best courses you can play”
Harbor Club, a 1,000-acre lake
and golf community located on
the shores of Lake Oconee, has
jumped to the No. 3 ranking
among the “2016 Best Courses
You Can Play” in Georgia, ac
cording to Golfweek Magazine’s
recently released annual ranking.
The lofty recognition comes
on the heels of a comprehen
sive enhancement program at
Harbor Club that touched every
aspect of the golf course, includ
ing expanded turf conditioning
practices, an upgraded irriga
tion system, extensive planting
of flowering shrubs and trees,
underbrush removal to open
up view corridors and new cart
paths and sand bunkers in
certain places. Harbor Club also
meticulously maintains the lake
region’s only bent grass greens,
widely regarded as the truest and
smoothest putting surface in the
sport.
Harbor Club’s sweeping
lakefront design was the first
offering on the east coast from
the esteemed architectural part
nership of Tom Weiskopf and
Jay Morrish back in 1991. The
course touches the shoreline of
Lake Oconee, Georgia’s second

Daylight-saving time begins
Daylight Saving Time is here.
Agent Jim Boyd of Jim Boyd &
Associates and the Georgia Arson
Control Board would like to
remind citizens in Morgan,
Greene and Putnam County
to change the batteries in
their smoke detectors when
they move their clocks
forward an hour for Daylight
Saving Time.
Daylight Saving Time starts
on Sunday, March 13, at 2 a.m.
This is when clocks are set ahead
one hour. Clocks should be set
before bedtime Saturday evening.
“The change from standard
time to Daylight Saving Time
is a good opportunity to make
sure your smoke detector has
fresh batteries and is functioning
properly.”
Boyd also recommends that the
citizens of Morgan County replace
batteries in flash lights, weather
radios, and other safety devices
used for household emergencies.
