MORGAN COUNTY Man calls 911 to Jeff Warren jeff@lakeoconeenews.us According to Morgan County Sheriff Robert Markley, a Rutledge man phoned 911 Friday morning, March 11, and reported he used a handgun to kill his adult son, who lived with the man at his home. Killed was Bryan David Wilkerson, 54. The confessed shooter is Arlie Wilkerson, age 82, confined to a wheelchair. Both resided at 5840 U.S. Highway 278 in Rutledge along with a second adult son, Glenn Wilkerson, and Arlie’s wife, Frances Wilk erson, mother to both sons. According to sheriffs office records, Arlie Wilkerson’s call came into the 911 center at 8:33 a.m. At 8:48 a.m., Sheriff Markley, Corporal Adam Howard and Deputy Justin Davis arrived to the Wilk erson residence in separate vehicles, the sheriff leading the way onto the property. The Wilkerson house lies back report murdering son from the highway down a long drive, shielded from road view by a stand of trees. Chief deputy and sher iffs office spokesman, Capt. Christopher Bish, said the 911 dispatcher instructed Arlie Wilkerson to wait unarmed outside his house for law en forcement to arrive, and Wilk erson complied with those instructions. The three peace officers parked near the res idence and approached the house on foot with weapons drawn. They found Arlie Wilkerson unarmed and seated in his wheelchair in the driveway near his garage. Davis handcuffed Wilker son and attended him while Markley and Howard entered the house. Inside they met Frances Wilkerson, Arlie’s wife, “who appeared to be very emotional ly upset,” Howard wrote in his report of the incident.
