A car crash on Interstate 20,
Thursday night, April 28, about a
quarter mile east of the Newborn
Road overpass, resulted in death
for one motorist and injuries to two
others.
According to information
provided by Sgt. 1st Class Justin
Howard, Post Commander at Mad
ison’s Georgia State Patrol Post 8,
the collision involved two vehicles.
A silver 2006 Nissan Maxima,
headed westbound, crossed the
grassy median between east and
west traffic and struck head-on a
blue 2006 Dodge Dakota pickup
traveling on the eastbound side
of the freeway. The driver of the
truck, the only occupant in the
pickup, was killed. The two Nissan
occupants were moved to Grady
Hospital in Atlanta for treatment of

Jilted lover
jailed after
shooting
After an argument between
a former boyfriend and current
boyfriend, a Jefferson man was
left with a bullet in his leg and
a Woodville man was taken to
jail.
Benjamin Edward Nunn,
1041 Woodland Way, Wood
ville, was arrested April 29
and charged with aggravated
assault.
“The investigation is ongoing
and additional charges are
expected,” according to a press
release written by Greene
County Sheriff s Lt. Lee Stancill
Monday.

Car strikes, kills man on Harmony

A car struck and killed a
man walking on the roadway
in the 800 block of Harmony
Road Saturday night. The man
reportedly carried identifica
tion saying his name was Elmi
Rosanio Lopez Lucas, 42, of
Greene County, however au
thorities say the ID appeared
to be counterfeit and they are
unsure if that was his actual
name.
“I recognize it to be a coun
terfeit ID, but for now we are op
erating on the assumption that
is his name,” Putnam Sheriff

ger Monday. “We believe he is
