The NGA girls won their game 55-52, but the boys lost 96-68. The games were rescheduled from Jan. 6 after they were postponed due to the threat of winter weather. The Lady Patriots and Lady Angels went toe-to- toe for most of their contest. After a hard-fought first half, NGA was on top 24-21. After intermission, each team committed a high number of fouls, making free throws a crucial element of the game. Senior Tristan Epps sank four of her eight second-half foul shots, and Brandi Bashore, Kendall Patrick, Carson Maloof and Carrie Lindsey all came through at the foul stripe, too. Fortunately for NGA, Alleluia wasn’t as success overtime. The Lady Patriots increased their defensive pressure in the four-minute overtime period and held Alleluia to just one point en route to the 55-52 win. NGA had to pull out the victory without the assis tance of Epps, one of the team’s leading scorers.
