LAKE COUNTRY Georgia State confers degrees More than 2,500 students earned degrees at Georgia State University’s 102nd commencement, held Dec. 14, 2016 at the Georgia Dome. Hank Huckaby, the out going chancellor of the University System of Geor gia, served as speaker for the commencement, which marked the university’s final graduation ceremony held at the Georgia Dome. Local students earning bachelor’s degrees included: Jai Edwards of Madison, majoring in economics; Portia Jordan of Madison, majoring in sociology and Mikesha Reid of Eatonton, majoring in political sci ence. Local students earn ing associate’s degrees included: Patrick Bolton of Rutledge, early childhood education; Paige Hilsman of Madison, health science professions and Marchelle Walker of Madison, general studies.
