Friday, Jan. 20-Sunday, April 9 The Madison-Morgan Cultural Center is hosting a travel ing exhibit, on loan from the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, that presents the story of Lt. Henry Timberlake and Cherokee leader Ostenaco as they journeyed to each other's countries in 1762, as Emissaries of Peace. The contrast between their cultures is shown in this exhibit. The exhibit is based on Timberlake's Memoirs, along with period artwork, artifacts from archeology and historical collections, and other 18th century ac counts. The center is also hosting a gallery show of tra ditional carved wooden masks, all of which are available for purchase. Sunday, Feb.5-Friday, Feb. 24 The Morgan County African American Museum is host ing an exhibition in honor of Black History Month. "In Plain View: A Remembering" is celebrating black women of the 19th Century who were landowners and businesswomen, reported to be the first black female landowners in Morgan County. They lived and thrived in the small hamlet of Plainview here in Morgan County. The museum is open from Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students, and $2.50 for seniors. The show will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. The show is free and open to the public and will take place in the reception hall and gallery. More than 100 photographers have entered and submitted more than 350 photos in this eighth annual juried show. The event is sponsored by the Eaton- ton-Putnam Arts Foundation. A reception for all pho tographers and their families will be held Feb. 17 at 5 p.m., and winners of the various categories will be an nounced at that time. The show features photographs by amateurs, juniors (under 18) and advanced photog raphers. Entries include artists from all over Georgia. The profit from the show helps support PutnamARTS, the arm of the Foundation that organizes classes, camps and art shows for adults and children throughout the year. Irish singer Chloe Agnew gained fame as the youngest and one of the original members of the internationally acclaimed music group Celtic Woman. Chloe performs live in concert with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra along with Irish tenor, Dermot Kiernan, and special appearances by Irish dancer, Scott Porter, and the Lisa Kelly Voice Academy Choir.
