Henry Timberlake and Cher okee leader Ostenaco as they journeyed to each other's countries in 1762 as Emissaries of Peace. The contrast between their cultures is shown in this exhibit. The exhibit is based on Timberlake's Memoirs, along with period art work, artifacts from archeology and historical collections, and other 18th century accounts. The center is also hosting a gallery show of traditional carved wooden masks, all of which are available for purchase. Saturday, March 4 The Morgan County Fire Rescue is hosting an all you can eat pancake breakfast in the Public Safety Complex to ben efit baby Annie Miller. From 7 to 11 a.m., pancakes, eggs and sausage will be on offer along with coffee and orange juice. The cost is $7 per person. Walk-ins are welcome and delivery is available to groups of 10 or more. Saturday, March 4 With their recent Grammy Award for "Best Folk Album" ear lier this year, banjo and vocal duo (and husband and wife) Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn perform original music as well as Appalachian murder ballads, gospel, chamber music and blues. The two first collaborated as part of the Spar row Quartet in 2005. Fleck has been nominated in more categories than any other musician in Grammy Award his tory. Friday, March 10 From 6 to 8 p.m. the Madison Artists Guild will be hosting a show featuring the work of silk painter Margaret Agner. Based in Georgia, Agner is an Ohio native and Louisiana State University graduate who crafts painted silk banners and wearable art along with more traditional paintings and pastels. Her work draws upon her rural upbringing, incorporating images of nature and insects. The show is free and open to the public, and the artist herself will be in attendance. Thursday, March 23 The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is presenting a public speaking event by Bill King, Interim CEO of Pen- field Christian Homes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting people with drug and alcohol addiction from a Christian perspective. This free education event lasts from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and will be in the Community Room of the Lakeside Church in Greensboro. Light refreshments begin at 6. PUTNAM Friday, March 3-Sunday March 5 The Second Annual (2017) Georgia Tiny House Festival will be held at the beautiful and spacious Ooh La La Lavender Farm in Eatonton. As with all our events, the 2017 festival will be unique to itself and offer activities, workshops, lectures and tiny houses not seen or available at our other Tiny House Festivals. This year will offer over two dozen workshops and lectures from experts and trailblazers in the subjects of tiny house construction, the tiny lifestyle, the legalities of living tiny, code enforcement considerations, off-grid living and much more. The festival is dog-friendly, and there will be a raffle for a Tiny Dog House on Wheels. We will also be providing continuous showings of Tiny House Expedition's documentary, "Living Tiny Legally" throughout Saturday and Sunday. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, the festival is open exclusively to students only, then gates open at 5 p.m. to the public for free. On Satur day and Sunday, admission is $20.00 per day ($35.00 for a 2-day admission ticket) and gates open at 9 a.m.. There is an outdoor concert on both Friday and Saturday night in the arena, plus additional live entertainment throughout Saturday and Sunday during the day. ATHENS/CLARKE Friday, March 3-Sunday, March 5 Southeastern Mineral Specimens presents the First Annu al Athens Rock, Gem, Mineral, Jewelry, Fossil & Related Crafts Show! The show will take place in Grand Halls 6 and 7. Adult tickets are $5 and available upon entry and admission is good for all three days with a hand stamp. Children 16 and under are free. Friday, March 17 Join the Conservancy for their annual membership supper atop one of the highest points in Morgan County. The historic Malcom's Crossroads barn is the site of this annual event celebrating the Conservancy's membership and the organization's accomplishments over the past year. This year, attendees will be able to tour the circa 1902 historic commissary, which was an integral part of the Malcom's large tenant farming operation at the turn of the 20th century. Join us for a chili supper sourced from local meats and veggies to celebrate Georgia's first countywide conser vancy and their work in heritage conservation in Morgan County.
