All contributed CMS FBLA winners shine at state conference The Carson Middle School (CMS) chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) traveled to the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Conference Center in Perry for the annual Georgia FBLA Middle Level State Leadership Conference. The Georgia FBLA theme for the year is Georgia FBLA: Time to Shine! Twenty-four CMS FBLA members certainly “shined” at this event as they brought home 27 awards! Those attending the event included Jailyn Armour, Bianca Howell, Austin Martinez, Jarvis Merritt, James Ramirez, Eric Surgick, Ellie Webb, Zanobia Brown, Arianna Brown, Taniyah Evans, Raven Hutchinson, Ashlyn Lawrence, Tayla Merritt, Ania Monford, Karina Rocha, A’bria Smith, Juan Tirado, Darius Walker, Allyvia Howell, Dawson Jordan, Paulina Macias, Hailey Mosley, Jason Murphy and Kamron Wright. They were accompanied by CMS assistant principal, Mrs. Mindy Andrews, Greene County bus driver, Ms. Loretta Moon, and their adviser, Mrs. Tanya Morgan. At the con ference, the members enjoyed fun, action-packed leadership ac tivities. Paulina Macias, Dawson Jordan and Jason Murphy pre sented their invention in the Invention Convention event. Bianca Howell, Allyvia Howell and Karina Rocha competed in the annual Battle of the Chapters event placing second in the state! The highlight of the state con ference is the awards ceremony. At the beginning of the program, local FBLA chapter presidents participated in the annual Parade of Presidents. CMS FBLA presi dent Paulina Macias was honored as the CMS president during this event. Georgia FBLA consists of over 120 FBLA chapters across Georgia. In many of the events, over 100 Georgia FBLA members competed. During the ceremony, 18 CMS FBLA members won 26 awards by placing in the top 10 in their events. FBLA members placing in the top five receive plaques. Those re ceiving plaques are Biana Howell, Allyvia Howell and Karina Rocha, second place, Battle of the Chapter; Paulina Macias, second place, Local Chapter Ac tivities Report; Zanobia Brown, third place, Keyboarding II; and Hailey Mosley, fifth place, Key boarding II. FBLA members placing sixth through 10th place receive medals. The medal ists are Zanobia Brown, Ashlyn Lawrence and A’bria Smith, sixth place, Desktop Publishing; Jason Murphy, sixth place, Employ- ability Skills; Kamron Wright, seventh place, Employability Skills; Jayla Harris and Allyvia Howell, seventh place, Web Page Creation; Makayla Nesbitt, eighth place, Computer Slide Show; Aaliyah Wyatt, eighth place, Em ployability Skills, Karina Rocha, Bianca Howell and Ellie Webb, ninth place, Computer Slide Show; A’bria Smith, Taniyah Evans and Adrianna Brown, ninth place, Web Page Creation; Paulina Macias, Jason Murphy and Dawson Jordan, 10th place, Invention Convention; and Tayla Merritt, 10th place, Keyboard ing I. The chapter also earned enough points to be named a Bronze Chapter of Excellence and a National FBLA Gold Seal Chapter. The CMS Chapter of FBLA is now planning some fun events for the spring and to attend the Summer Leadership Officer Training Summit (SLOTS) in July. - Contributed
