SEE MORE PHOTOS AND WINNERS » PAGE B1 The City of Union Point “will decide whether to appeal in the coming days” this month’s ruling in a two-year dispute between Greene County and Union Point over charges for 911 emer gency dispatch services, according to a Union Point press release on Monday. Superior Court Judge H. Gibbs Flanders Jr.’s ruling in the lawsuit gives both sides something to claim as a victory but, for the time being, Union Point appears to have won the battles but lost the war. Flanders ruled that the law that allows judges to decide these types of disagreements between governmental bodies is unconstitutional, as Greene County had claimed. So, Greene County wins? Case closed? Not quite. T. Michael Stone/Staff I f you live or work in Madison you’ve probably become accustomed to cameras and props. After last week you might even be used to extras screaming and running for their lives. For the second time in less than a month, a major studio came to Madison to film the pilot for a television show. The pilot episode of “Life Sentence” used the Perk Avenue bistro two weeks ago for filming and this time ABC productions used the entire square to film a vehicle that will star Reba McEntire. And Madisonians seemed to adore the red-headed country music singer slash actress. Shouts of “there she is, there she is,” could be heard around the square from Sunday morning until the film crews and actors packed up and left Madison Tuesday afternoon, miraculously cleaning up millions of pieces of red, white and blue confetti that had littered the streets for three days.
