Michael Stone michael@lakeoconeenews.us Less than a week into the 2017 turkey hunting season and two men have already been shot. As they were conducting their search, the hunter they were looking for apparently thought the men were turkeys and fired a shotgun at them. Worth’s safety equipment and vest protected him from most of the blast but he did get a pellet in his neck, leg and face. McKinnon said Worth was transported to a local hospital and later released. Michael Stone michael@lakeoconeenews.us A Monroe teenager who ran a pickup truck off the road on Bostwick Road and fled the scene left enough clues for a Morgan County deputy to track him down. When Deputy Christopher Lash arrived on the scene, he met with Frank Tanner and a juvenile who had been riding in a Toyota Tacoma truck on Bostwick Road. Tanner said a red Chevrolet SlO passed on the left, made a sudden lane change, hit his truck and ran Tanner and his passenger off the road. According to the incident report, the Tacoma rolled multiple times and wound up in a field. Tanner said the SlO stopped, but when the driver saw him, he fled. The juvenile riding with Tanner gave law enforcement their first useful clue when he said he saw the SlO leaving the Bostwick Citgo Station as they passed by before the accident.
