Michael Stone michael@lakeoconeenews.us Chief Ossie Mapp of the Greensboro Police has reported that three arrests have been made in connection with recent vehicle break-ins. On Monday, April 3, officers re sponded to Soto Creations located at 301 East Broad Street, Greensboro, in reference to an entering auto com plaint. The complainant stated that on Saturday, April 1, three male subjects wearing hoodies and ball hats were observed on video surveillance entering six vehicles at the shop around 1:21 a.m. After further investigation, officers arrested Javius Tyrek McCommons, 21, of 1510 MLK Jr. Drive, Greensboro. McCommons was charged with loiter ing/prowling and being a party to a crime. Mapp presents crime No business licenses were approved at the meeting although an application for one revealed the need to address the issue, city planner Rick Zeier told the stats for first quarter council. “Since tattoo parlors are not listed in the [zoning] ordinance as a permitted or conditional use activity,” he said, “I could not issue a permit.” On Thursday, April 13, the City Planning and Zoning Board, by a 3-to-2 vote, recommended to City Council that tattoo parlors be allowed as a B-2 Conditional Use. MORGAN COUNTY New Morgan Memorial Hospital dears final hurdle T. Michael Stone/Staff Morgan Memorial Hospital has served the county well for nearly 60 years. T. Michael Stone michael@lakeoconeenews.us The plan to build a new hospital in Morgan County cleared a final hurdle recently when John Anton agreed not to continue litigation aimed at stopping the project. The Morgan County Hospital Authority agreed to pledge never to ask the county for additional money beyond the $1 million annual subsidy in the county budget and to have authority chairman Terry Evans resign in June when his term is up. The agreement clears the way for a new facility The hospital authority has long held that no tax increase would be required to support the SEE HOSPITAL » A9 MORGAN COUNTY Restaurant razed The Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant on Eatonton Road met its maker early this week as crews began demolition of the Madison eatery. By Tuesday afternoon, the building was no more than a pile of rubble between Wendy’s and the Raceway Station. But the restaurant will return. Savannah-based franchise owner Inman Hodges presented his plans for a complete teardown and rebuild to the Corridor Design Commission in January.
