A misfit, a coward, an outcast, Time will twist, bend, and tie into a knot. Before he knows it, his life will be over, Just remnants of his past, only to be leftover. The ones that remember him won’t wail, They will only speak of what made his train derail. His kids, his wife, his life and all, Will be what made the dead man fall. When the grave is dug and the casket is made, His memory and legacy will quickly fade. His friends will remember how they were treated, Tricked, victimized, hurt, and cheated. They will recall how he clutched the past life, How he forgot to be thoughtful of his future, which held Death’s knife. The man will rot in the soil, under the people he gashed. The man will become a man of the past. The Spider People (Brennan Easton) Though they have not eight legs nor eyes They are the spider people Do they live in caves behind the couch Or spin webs of polished liquid that infect the untouched closets? And the ringing of a tuning fork echoes in their ears No it is not sweet but a sour sound with a sour taste to the brain Like liking lemons and limes. But they can sting you They can stab and bite They would like to leave you out to dry before they eat you Standing there watching you squirm and wiggle till you drop down, suspended. They will lure you there And oh how tiring this is To drag you out to the coffin To watch you squirm and wiggle till you drop down, suspended over the floor. My mind is blown by the beauty of their web No, it may not be present in a physical form But can you not imagine each strand Strung for a reason unique to its strand to catch a sim ple fly When the insect is caught in that web That web does not break No it will stand strong Impenatratible But of the spider people, may the worst be those Who let the bug lay there on the web And watch Retract their stinging blow, that final punch, and instead watch. Do they ever die? No, not for many lifetimes For they have made illusions. And that spider who waits for their prey, that prey will wait for lifetimes to be ended. Do you know any spider people?
