Page B4 Lake Oconee News Friday, May 5,2017 GREENE COUNTY BankSouth hosts community picnic to honor Greene County law enforcement BankSouth, Reynolds Lake Oconee and The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Oconee hosted a commu nity picnic on April 22 to honor and support all law enforcement officers of Greene County at BankSouth’s downtown Greens boro branch. More than 400 people were in attendance and the event raised approximately $40,000 for Geor gia Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc. (GA-C.O.P.S.) and Greene County Safe and Secure. “It was an honor to host our second Law Enforcement Appre ciation Picnic and to give back to our local law enforcement and provide a fun and caring atmo sphere that these men, women and their families could enjoy,” said Harold Reynolds, chairman and CEO, BankSouth. “I want to thank the com munity for coming out to show their support and our wonderful employees for helping to make this event happen. In particular, business development officer, Sarah Peacock, went above and beyond to coordinate the event and actively engage the commu nity for sponsorships. It is great to see the level of participation and team work that this event created, and we look forward to continuing to host community events like this.” The donation checks will be presented to GA-C.O.P.S. and Greene County Safe and Secure at a separate event later this month. GA-C.O.P.S. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that serves as a support group for surviving families, friends and co-workers of law officers killed in the line of duty. Furthermore, GA-C.O.P.S. is a resource to law enforcement agencies whenever they experi ence a line of duty casualty. Greene County Safe and Secure is an organization that provides resources to Greene County and city police, EMS and firefighters. Most recently, they purchased bulletproof vests for the Greens boro officers and for the new canine for the County. Are they inter ested in acting? This summer will mark the third year that Festival Hall hosts the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) summer camp in Greens boro. The camp is scheduled for the week of June 26 through July 1 and will provide an exceptional theatrical experience for area campers ranging from rising first graders to high school seniors. Camp will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at Festival Hall for the MCT production of “Jack and the Beanstalk.” The MCT touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct the camp and rehearsals throughout the week and end with a 3:00 p.m. Saturday matinee of the production. “We are excited to again offer this extraordinary opportunity to the children of the Lake Oconee area,” said Becky Cronic, Festi val Hall director. “This is a wonderful learning expe rience for students to see what it takes to put on an actual production.” Space for the camp is limited to 60 campers.
